My son is majorly congested and has been since around Christmas. My DD was sick for a couple days first and very congested, now he is the congested one. Hers only lasted 2 days though and his so much longer.

This morning it was so bad he couldnt drink more than 3 sucks without stopping breathing. He just cant breath out his nose.

Each diaper change I have been using saline and suctioning him and getting A LOT of guck. What else can I do?

I agree on checking with the ped first. LOTS of saline spray with bulb suctioning and a humidifier in the room help too!

saline and sucking, humidifier and raising the crib mattress have helped.

But mostly it's just a wait it out type of thing.

    Hope he's feeling better!

And call the ped just to make sure!

The PED said because he has no other symptoms not to worry. I was kind of thankful he said that as we are uninsured until february 1. If he needs anything before that I do not know how we are going to afford it.

The poor little guy is as happy as can be, just congested.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I am sure to follow some if not all of it!

Kind of old school - but I'm a fan of vicks vapor rub too. When the girls were small - I'd put it on the inside of their pj's as i wasn't sure if it would affect their skin - now that they are older - I rub some right on their chest when I put their pj's on. My girls are just getting over the congestion thing and that's what I did - vicks, humidifier in the room, saline and booger sucker. I also tried to give them more water. mix a little juice and water. this seemed to help also. Good luck!

They also have Johnson's vapor bath..put some in a warm bath and let him soak if you close the door and keep it warm the vapor will clear him up some. Also a humidifier at night until he clears up...I would also make a call to the Pedi.

Ditto. That is what I have done with Katie and works like a charm.
