What kind of meats can I start with? They have been eating the Stage 3 dinners for a while now and do fine with them but I would like to move away from those into more "table food meats". I was thinking of trying some chicken but was unsure if they would be able to chew it. They have 5-7 teeth but they are all in the front so I don't know how effective thier teeth would be in helping them. I know that babies can bite hard even with no teeth but is it enough to break down the meat? Should I just cook the chicken and then but it in the blender? That seems to be defeating the purpose though... as you can see I am very confused about what to do and any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

    Thanks,
    Megan

Chicken's a good start. What I do is dice it into pea-sized cubes, then they kind of mash it with their gums. If the chicken is a little dry you can mix a little water or broth into the cubes before serving. As long as you can mash it between your pointer and thumb it's soft enough for a baby.

We started with deli meats, now they can eat chicken, pork, ground beef, etc. and my two only have two bottom teeth each. Just give small pieces and you can mush it with your fingers a little before hand too.

boiled, shredded chicken is great. Mine also like kielbasa sausage and hotdogs cut into little bites. It's pretty soft to squish with their gums.

Shredded chicken, or even the ground chicken, beef or turkey, as long as you cook it thoroughly. I have also given some of the sliced turkey deli meat.

    HI,

Don't know if you are concerned about sodium -- but deli meat is super high in sodium/preservatives and the babies don't need it. You can avoid it, I believe, but buying turkey from a store that makes their own version -- and ask them what's in it.

Good luck, we're starting meats next month, so I've been researching.

    Cheers,

    Teri

We use some pieces of chicken, and then we had ham, pork, and now we are having ground beef and some very soft steak. They have loved it all! Good luck!

Thanks for the replies and help! I tried chicken with them and they did well. Today we had some ham and mushroom pizza for lunch too which they loved! :) I guess they are ready for meats now!! B) Thanks for the reassurance to go ahead and try it...not sure I would have without you guys letting me know that it was ok.

    Thanks,
    Megan

I give them shredded or small cut up pieces of any kind of meat. They don't need back teeth, they just mash it with their gums.
