    Hey everyone,
I am pretty new to the forum and my girlfriend who is a mother of twins continues to encourage my use of the site so here I am. I had my perinatology appointment yesterday and there are a few things the doctors are concerned with and I was wondering if anyone had the same issues and what was recommended to them and how it worked.
    1. Twin to Twin transfusion. I am a Mono-Di and the doctors are confident I am expecting identical twins and am 21w4d. We are not finding out the sex of our little ones! baby A is 16oz and baby B is 12oz... The doctor suggested increasing my protein intake and trying to stay on my left side a much as I can... Any other suggestions or personal experiences?
    2. Baby B has slightly dilated kidneys. The Perinatologist is not extremely concerned but is watching closely for changes... I know it means the urine is backing up in the kidneys a little but I don’t know anything else... any advice?
    3. I had very extreme episodes of bleeding my entire first trimester and early in my 2nd but luckily it has stopped. They said baby A is surrounded by blood and are concerned because it can be an irritant to the membrane and cause premature rupture of the membrane. The docs are recommending staying off my feet as much as I can but I am really scared with this issue. Has anyone gone through this before?
    Thanks upfront for any help!

    Hi there and welcome!

Our situations are a bit different, I'm expecting di/di twins, and I can only address the second of your questions, but I hope it helps anyways. Our twin A has always shown one dilated kidney on u/s, but neither my OB or the peri are very concerned. Apparently for baby boys in particular this happens quite frequently and, as long as it doesn't get very much worse over time, it's no big deal, typically resolving on its own after birth.

I'm sure others will be able to help with your questions as well.

    Congrats on your twins :)

I'm sorry I don't have any knowledge of the things you listed, but I am sure someone will, there are so many great Ladies on this board.

    Congrats and welcome!

My ID girls were di/di so I can't help on the 1st or 3rd question.

For #2 my son had dilated kidneys during my entire pregnancy (found at my 20 week U/S). It was followed every couple of weeks (he also had other "soft markers" at my 20 week scan that they were watching). Anyway, by 28 weeks one kidney was practically normal. I think my last U/S was around 32 weeks at which point the second was still dilated but they said it would be a "wait and see" sort of thing for after he was born. No one seemed too concerned (of course I was terrified!). I am happy to say he is a perfectly healthy 3 year old! No health concerns of any kind. I guess it worked itself out and once he was born everything started functioning normally.

I hope everything goes well for you and your babies :) Congrats again!

Oh my goodness. I don't have any experience with any of those issues, either, but I do recommend Dr. Barbara Luke's "When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads". It may be able to address some dietary things you can focus on to grow some big babies.

I will be thinking of you and hope these complications are a distant memory soon.

I just wanted to say congrats and welcome to TS. I really dont have much advice to give you. I had mono/di boys and they were said to have had a very minor case of TTTS, so no real complications. I hope everyting works itself out. Keep us updated on how everything goes.
