Compact twin stroller for travel?

We have two umbrella strollers we use around town when we're all out, and a big Graco front and back double stroller that's a monstrosity (I have a Caravan, and it consumes the whole back storage area). The twins are almost 2 now and we're planning a trip to Orlando. I'm thinking about getting a different double stroller, and wanted to see what you guys would recommend. Basically, these are my requirements (and I am really particular about strollers, so maybe I can't get everything I want! hehheh):
    • Inexpensive (prefer no more than $125-135)
    • Independent reclining that REALLY reclines, not some crappy slight recline
    • Cup holders
    • Not too huge when folded, an umbrella double stroller would be great
    • Decent backets underneath for stuff
    • tray in front for snacks for twins
    • Canopy or shelter of some sort on top
I know that's a lot to ask out of a stroller, but I see a couple that seem like they could fit the bill. Has anyone ever used this Chicco Chita? Or this Jeep Wrangler double stroller? Or this Graco DuoRider? Is there any reason to pay $130-something for the Chicco vs. the $89 for the Wrangler, for instance? I don't mind paying more for a stroller I will like a lot more, but it wasn't really obvious to me.

Thanks for any advice you guys have who have used these strollers!

I don't know about the Chicco double stroller, but we have two singles that look just like the one you posted the link to and I love them!! I have an older model peg-prego aria side-by-side that I love. We just took it from Atlanta to California and it traveled well on the plane. I think it fits everyone of your requirements, except the price. I found mine in a consignment shop for $60, a real steal! I know that isn't much help, but good luck hunting.

Have you considered just renting a stroller in Orlando? I would assume that since your kids are 2, you won't be using it for too much longer... I actually bought a used Combi Twin Savvy on Craigslist for $100. It was pretty flimsy and hasn't held up well, but for the few times we needed it, it worked well.

We bought a Combi Twin Savvy EX for our travels to Europe last May when the kids turned 3 and it held up quite well. The stroller wasn't too heavy and it has all your requirements. We sold ours on our craigslist and I've seen several posted so might be a good way to get one at a good deal.

You said you were going to Orlando. Are you going to Disney? That would make a difference on what stroller I would recommend. .

I would try to buy a 2nd hand Combi Twin Savvy. Love it! Folds in half (to the size of golf clubs) after it folds the first time! The bottom isn't SUPER spacious, but it has trays and cover etc.....would be my rec.!

I have seen the Peg Pregos at stores, and they look great! If I could find one for $60, that would be wonderful! Great deal!

It looks like rates are something like $60 a week for most places that rent, and considering the Jeep is $80-something brand new and to keep that would seem silly. It would probably be a better option if it were just for a day or weekend. Also, we are stopping at spots along the way there and back, so we would need stroller in more places than Orlando. Thanks, though! :D

Those do look very nice. I don't see any double strollers really at all right now on Craigslist and we're leaving soon, but I will keep my eyes peeled... or maybe I should post something saying I'm looking for one to buy.

We have been to Disney several times since my girls were two(we dont live far from there). The first couple of times we used our double peg aria.....it is not worth the money IMO. It gets hard to steer once they get bigger and the trays broke and the basket has a huge hole. You can't put a lot in it or it drags on the ground. If you do get a double get one that has 6 sets of wheels, unlike the graco which has four sets. The six sets makes it sooooo much easier to steer when they get bigger.
We finally ended up buying two Maclaren Volvo's specifically for our Disney trips. It is so much easier moving through the crowds, getting on the tram and when they fold it has a arm strap to put over your shoulder. The volvo is the low grade one and doesnt recline, but the one up from that does.
If I had to do it again....i would have gone straight for the double Maclaren...best stroller IMO. The basket is great and holds a lot.
My girls are 3.5 and they still use the stroller for Disney and any trip that has a lot of walking. Also great in the airport.
oh ya...I bought the clips that hook the strollers together in case only one of us was around....we barely use it.

Have a great time and we will be there the first week in March. Yu should check out the disney message boards.....you can search strollers on the boards. Go to the family section.....disboards.com
