    Hi,
With the twins I was soo sick and to the point I didn't care what my hair looked like LOL!!!
But, with this pregnancy I'm not feeling that bad and I really need to color my hair. I have been told that it's ok by my mom but, I just read in the pregnancy books not to. Is it just an old wives tale not to?
So, did you color your hair?

    Thanks For The Help :)

I've colored my hair in each and every pregnancy. I've never had a problem, and my kids are all healthy with no problems.....

Okay - that's a lie. I did not color my hair during one pregnancy - and that would be the one that I lost - so obviously hair color had nothing to do with it....

agree with above... really there are no proven studies. Of course i colored my hair both pregnancies and although yes, my first was early (more due to being dehydrated/couldn't stop contracts) and i lost taylor the second time around... both were from other factors in my opinion. I know plenty of hairdressers that color other peoples hair and color their own hair when pregnant and have no problems whatsoever. They just make sure the vapors from the chemicals in hairdye don't bother them by making sure everything is well ventilated.

I have been a hairdresser (cosmotoligist) for years. I have colored my hair and also that of many prego women.
Just make sure you are in a well ventulated room.
I would not do this if I thougt it was dangerous to the baby or mommy. :)

I've heard it is ok but ask your doctor.

Not sure what colour you go but I imagine the semi-permanent ones would be a little safer.

My main issue is the dandruff :nea:

I colored my hair after the first trimester with the twins and this time around I am actually going on Wednesday to get my hair done cause I have a wedding on Saturday and don't want to look like an old lady. My sister colored hair with all three of her pregnancies.

My sister is a hairdresser and she colored other peoples hair as well as her own her entire pregnancy. She had a beautiful, and very healthy baby girl.

I chose not to. I do know that no matter what level you get (full color or highlights) it does go into your bloodstream; along with painting your nails, body lotion, make-up, etc. It was just one more thing I didn’t want to expose them to. Believe me it was very hard. I’ve been coloring my hair since I was in high school and I wasn’t quite sure what was under there! :)
I had my hair dresser take out the color with a toner that closely matched my natural color and that was it until I was done breastfeeding. More than likely it’s fine, but just do a little research about the combination of all the other products you are using in addition to dying your hair.

I colored my hair when I was pregnant with the girls, but I waited until after the first trimester. I read somewhere that it was only dangerous in the first trimester.

I didn't color mine when I was pg with the twins because I couldn't sit that long. My doctor said it was okay as long as it was after the first trimester. I did at 11.5 weeks with this one because I had two inches of roots to hide before my first book signing. :)
