Just curious if those of you in places where winters are COLD (like here in MN...BRRRRR) are going to buy outerwear for the kids or just use something to bundle them their car seats.

The kiddos will be in daycare 4 days/wk, and I just can't imagine bundling them up in outerwear each morning before we head out. On the flipside, I'm sure there will be sometimes we'll want to have them outside and out of the carseat.

    Thanks, Suzi

Hmmm.. yeah, we had a snowsuit from baby gap. It was big on them but worked well.

We live in Alberta, Canada (BRRRRRR!!) And we got little sleeping bag type car seat bags, JJ Cole I think. I plan to get snowsuits. I also got sweaters, slippers and mittens for in the carseats and lots of hats. I plan to really restrict outside tho cuz of that RLS (is that what it's called?)

If they are still in there infant carseats i would get the JJ Cole Bundle Me!!
They are Awsome and kept our super warm all winter. They have a toddler size one
also but i am not sure how that would stay clean, once they are crawling and walking.

For me, it depends. If I'm going to be travelling a decent amount, or any time spent on the highway, I do not put my kids in their carseats with a snowsuit on (it's not safe to have them in puffy snowsuits in their carseat). For in town driving, I don't worry about it and dress them in snowsuits. I always try and make sure the car is heated up nice and cozy, and then I don't have to worry about what I put them in so much.

I actually put mine in snowsuits for the trip to & from daycare, but in retrospect, it was silly. For one thing, it's actually less safe to wear snowsuits in carseats. Also, the snowsuits were huge on them (even though they were supposedly newborn size). And finally, it was such a pain to get them in & out of the suits, it just wasn't worth it. I would have done much better to suck up & buy car seat covers, but I was too cheap/busy.

We also went strollering a lot. It is not too cold here (usually 30s/40s and sunny), and we usually put them in their snowsuits or in two sweaters and fleece hats. But Bundle Mes would have probably been warmer and easier to use. It's hard to put a newborn in one sweater, let alone two. :D

I found some fleece hats that velcro behind the head (so you can adjust the size) and under the chin (so they don't fall off) -- highly recommended.

RLS is Restless Leg Syndrome -- I assume you mean RSV. :) Being outside in the cold is not really a risk factor for RSV, although it could make their breathing worse if they already have the virus. But if they're healthy to start with, being outside in cold weather is a lot less risky than being inside where there are lots of other people (the mall, church, restaurants, etc.)

If they are small enough for those car seat covers get those!! They are great. Or the buntings.

I bought one piece fleece things from Old Navy with feet and a hood. Not to bulky and should be warm enough for in/out of the car!

Last winter we also used snowsuits to put over their clothes if we went anywhere with them. To be honest, we didn't got very far. WE also made sure they had warm blankets and that their face was out of the wind. That was easy, they were younger then six months through the whole winter. This is when we lived in UT.
