Okay this may seem crazy, but I have noticed a pattern and wanted to know if anyone had had a similar experience… I have been really nauseous this whole pregnancy. I also occasionally get bad headaches, and in speaking to my OB about the headaches he said try 8 oz of coffee when you have a headache… I would rather you have 8oz of caffeine every day then Tylenol everyday… so I tried it a few time, I would brew ½ decaf and half regular coffee and my headache would go away… and I also noticed my nausea would go away for the most part (I still had to keep my face stuffed with protein, but it was hunger not nausea that drove me to the protein)… so then I decided to try an experiment… for the last 3 morning I would have this half an half mixture and I haven’t been nauseated in 3 day… has anyone else had this experience… I know it sounds odd… I know I could just stop taking the coffee to see if it’s the coffee or just time for the nausea to end, but I have a lot of things I need to get done and don’t want to take the chance on it coming back…. The funny thing is I don’t drink coffee, I’m a green tea person… and I had to force it down… and my husband and I cant think of any medical reason coffee can make you feel not nauseated…

That's interesting! I actually have heard (and was on a shet I got from the OB) that drinking a coke helps nausea, so I assume it is the caffeine?? Weird, but that's great it's helping!

Was it "coke" or soda, like Pepsi or Dr Pepper? This is interesting...

It doesn't sound all that crazy to me... My doctor (well, technically the nurse..) recommended I drink coffee to help with my headaches too. She didn't have a problem with the tylenol, but unfortunately, the tylenol doesn't help that much. I can't stand plain coffee, so my husband will go out and get me lattes. I don't know that the lattes stop the nausea, but I noticed I would feel better while drinking them - less headaches AND the nausea seemed better. I think the warm drink is just soothing. Anyway, I don't have an explaination, but you're not alone!

On the paper it actually said "coca cola syrup" which was odd I thought!

I know that when my grandmother had her chemo treatments and they would make her feel sick, her doctor told her to drink a can of coke at room temp. I have never really had bad morning sickness with any of my pregnancies, but I am a coffee drinker and before that it was Pepsi. I have to have an iced mocha once a week, because of my silly cravings... but I like a vanilla latte here and there too. I think you are probably on to something!

Yummy, I tried that this morning, I filled the cup with a scoop of powered hot chocolate and a spoon full of sugar (these are those large Pottery Barn mugs)… filled it up ¾ the way with the decaf/reg mix of coffee and filled the rest with milk, and YUMMY… this could be trouble ;)

Wow, it's really interesting to hear how coffee has helped with your nausea and headaches during pregnancy. Everyone's body reacts differently, so what works for you could be unique. I've read that some people have had good experiences with certain coffee brands and how they brew their coffee. For example, the human bean customer service is known for being really helpful and could have some tips on coffee that could be gentle on your stomach. It could be worth reaching out to them for advice. Keep monitoring how your body responds and do what feels best for you.

Hey everyone! It's fascinating how coffee can have such different effects on people, especially during pregnancy. My wife also found that switching to a low-acid coffee brand helped with her morning sickness. It's all about finding what works for your body. One thing she did was switch to a lighter roast, which seemed to be gentler on her stomach. Also, don't overlook the importance of how you brew your coffee—methods like cold brew can reduce acidity. It's all trial and error, so it's great that you're paying attention to how your body reacts. Stay healthy and take care!
