Hi there everyone- I'm getting ready for my twin girls to arrive next February and was wondering if anyone has used a crib spacer for twins sharing a crib? This is the one I'm looking at: http://www.justmultiples.com/crib-spacer.html

It seems to take up a lot of room but may avoid them disturbing each other too much while sleeping. I definitely plan on having them in 1 crib for the beginning but it also seems that twins like knowing that they're close to each other so I wonder if this might get in the way of that. Anyone try something like this or plan using one?

I made a bolster pillow that connected from one set of crib slats to the other once they got to the point they were rolling around.

You may not need that unless you want them in the same crib long term. If you plan on separating them when they are big enough to roll over, you can put them far enough apart to not disturb each other. I swaddled mine and was able to put them in a co-sleeper/PnP to sleep up until about 2 weeks ago (at about 4 months) then I moved them into 1 crib. I just switched them into 2 cribs but that's because Livie has decided to start trying to crawl already.

Hi Kara and welcome to TS!

I had mine sleeping together but I put a Tetra tea tree bassinet pillow inside the crib and had them diagonally with their feet touching, we had them swaddled too and I liked how their feet were touching, it was cute, especially as they were separated at birth for the first three weeks.. We moved them to separate cribs when they were about 8/9 weeks old and starting to disturbing each other.

Ours coslept with no barrier for months! We did separate them (at the insistence of my MIL- I was choosing my battles) around six months or so but by two they had learned to crawl into one another's cribs again and we now usually find them in the same bed every morning.

You might just play it by ear. It's really dependent on your kids and your comfort level.

    Welcome to TS!

Ours coslept in the same crib till 14 months. We we wrapped them we actually wrapped them seperately and then together as they we both quite small. They still enjoy laying all over each other!

When did your twins actually seem to care that they were together? Ours don't seem to mind being separate right now. They are 1.5 months.

Ours are six months old, and though I had every intention of having them share a crib, it just didn't work out that way. They never minded being separate, and though they are now growing more attached to each other when awake and playing, they never have a problem sleeping separately in their cribs.

We started ours separate and it worked for about 3 mos, then they really started having trouble sleeping. We tried everything and finally put them together and that worked! The co-slept for 18 mos, without a barrier, but they developed what I call "synchronized sleep" and even now at 4 they sleep with their beds pushed together. I have often found them sleeping in the complete opposite direction from which they laid down, but without any issues.

I also let mine sleep together without a barrier. I wouldn't spend the money on one, honestly. :) Mine were together until about 6 months, then they slept in separate cribs in the same room.

I'm in Florida too, in the panhandle! Welcome & congrats on your twins!

My LOs slept together until 4 months (no barrier). At 4 months DD got wiggly (even in her swaddle) and started waking up DS.
Separating them was no problem. I thought it might be since DD has always snuggled up to DS but they handled it without issue.
I loved having them together and watching them snuggle! Even as preemies they would often turn toward each other :friends:

My girls are 5 and have slept together every night. We never used a barrier of any kind. I put a queen sized bed in their room when they were two they have slept in it ever since.

My twins slept together with nothing separating them, first in my bed, then after a year they slept together on their own and until they were 6 years old.

I got one but didn't buy it, a twin mommy friend gave me hers. I didn't start using it until they started breaking out of their swaddles around 4-5 months. Then, I only used it for a short time, because they started crawling and were trying to climb up onto it! So it only got used a few months.

Mine coslept in the same crib until 9-10 months when we finally finished their bedroom and moved them into separate cribs. By that time one was always sleeping up on top of the other one and they were no longer comfy in the same crib ;)

:welcome: to TS Kara! Mine are sleeping in their pack n play without a barrier ... We haven't moved to the crib yet, lol, but I probably won't use one in there either.

Also, like Kate (katheros) I'm in Fl ( the panhandle) too .. where are you?
