Co-sleeper

I anticipate having the girls in a co-sleeper for the duration of my c-section healing. Our bedroom is not far from their nursery, so I want to get them into their own room as soon as possible. Because we won't use it long, I don't want to buy a co-sleeper at full price from the store. I've been looking on e-bay and craig's list and most people are selling the "mini" co-sleeper. Would this be big enough for them for the first couple months? I'm thinking we'll need the larger one but there's a big price difference and not as many available, so I'd love opinions of those of you who have been there.

    Thanks!

I used the Universal for 6 mths - loved it more than I can say.

I wouldn't waste money on a mini myself.

We are using the Pack-N-Go with the bassinet feature instead of investing in a Co-sleeper. Granted the PNG wont be level to the bed, but I wil be bale to use it later when the girls are mobile. And the cost is MUCH cheaper. I dont plan on having the girls in our room for long either, just wanted a place for them for a few short weeks. Until they move inot their crib. :)

  4. I also had the same question regarding the co-sleeper? I know I want one. A woman who has twins that I was chatting with said she had 2 mini-co-sleepers and they were a savior. She said they were great bcz she would move it out into the living room during the day and that is where they would nap. Then she would wheel them back into the bedroom at night. I have VERY limited space in my bedroom, so I was thinking of just getting either one mini or one full size co-sleeper and sleep them together. I want to try and transition them into their cribs by 3 mos. But I can't find any full size ones with wheels?

I am hearing a lot of people say that the Twin Bassinet Pack n Play is much cheaper that the co-sleepers? I am finding just the opposite. At BRU the twin P&P was $200 while the full size Co-sleeper was $175-185.

Any other opinions on the co-sleeper??? Do you think they can both sleep in one for the first 3 mos or will it be too crowded?

    Thanks,
    Rebecca

We were loaned a mini co-sleeper before we knew we were having twins and decided to try it before buying anything else. It did work for the first 2 months but got snug for the girls at the end.

We also used a PNP so I don't have any experience with the co-sleeper, but the PNP bassinet worked great for the first few months.

We have the original sized co-sleeper and it was more expensive, but we've gotten every penny from it. They slept in the top part until they were 3 months old and now we use when we travel. (We did get a Pack-n-Play from Craigslist because they don't fit together in one anymore, but I can see us using these for travel for the next year.)

We also have the original full sized co-sleeper and it was wonderful! We used it for both babies together until they were 3-4 months old. And now at 10 months we are still using it for 1 baby to take a nap during the day. Its adjustable and can be used as a play yard as well. Definitely worth the money. We were lucky and got ours from a co-worker for a discounted price :)

Based on advice I got, we went ahead and got the original co-sleeper, and it seems like a good size (even if it does make our bedroom a bit crowded. ;)) Amazon and Walmart both have Arm's Reach original co-sleepers for around $140 with free shipping, or at least they did as of a few weeks ago. I think the color we got (azure) was maybe last year's color or something and that's why it was so much cheaper. At any rate, bear in mind you can always recoup a chunk of that cost by reselling it in a few months. :)

That's about what we paid last year. I also went through Walmart.com because they have free site-to-store shipping. DH went and picked it up. But we saved a bundle not having to ship it through other sites.

  11. Wow Ladies, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I actually woke up this morning and had decided to change to the regular sized co-sleeper, and your posts just confirmed my decision! (thanks for the Walmart/Amazon tip!) I really want to try hard to get them into their crib by 3 mos or so. I have a friend with a singleton that waited too long and now her 10 mos old will not sleep in her crib. She screams to no end, red-faced and shaking until they bring her into their room. I do not want that! I just want them to be in their crib before they really know the difference.

**One more question**... And this may be in a different thread (I'm new :) ). How many of you transitioned your twins into one crib vs two from your bedroom? Did you use a crib spacer or put them right next to each other? At what point did they go into their own cribs?

My twins slept in the co-sleeper/in the middle of our bed the first 6 mths. From 6 - 12 mths they slept in 1 crib together/in the middle of our bed. From 1 - 2yrs they slept together in a double bed. From 2+ they had twin beds in the same room.

    It has always worked perfectly.

My girls went from sharing the PNP to their own cribs at about 4 months old. At that point they were just starting to roll around and disturb each other.

  14. Did either of you ever use a crib spacer?
