    Hi ladies (and gents?)

I was just wondering your opinions on something. I have a few of those kinds of outfits that are like a cute little dress top (though the top is not dress length) with the bloomer type underpants that go with it. I think they are so adorable but everytime I think about putting it on them, I feel like they are going to look half naked or inappropriate. Today it is going to be in the low 90's so I want to keep them as cool as possible but I don't want people to give me the eye. Usually, I don't care what people think but I also just don't know if those kinds of outfits are ok. I wouldn't want to do anything that would make people think I'm exposing my kids kwim?? TIA for your opinions.

It sounds like an adorable cool outfit for summer. Slap on some sun screen and head out for a day of fun! ;)

Are you talking about the kind where the tops are shirt length with bloomes underneath? I LOVE those - no skin shows so why worry? Gymboree usually has one of those in every line of clothes & I usually get them for my girls. My girls are getting kind of big for them, my girls turn three TODAY, but we will wear the ones they have until they outgrow them.

I think it is totally fine. My girls wear stuff like that quite often.

okay...what if the top has a slightly open back. It is from the butterfly/flower series at Gymboree. It has three buttons down the back of the shirt and then it is a bit open. still ok??? i can't believe i am stressing about this. it is so not me

Even with the open back...it sounds so summery and so girly and so so cute!!!!! Now if they were teenagers, that would be different!!!!!!!!

    sounds fine to me too!
I'd probably stop doing it around 4 yrs old. . . but not becauee it's inappropriate, but because they don't usually even make them that big! LOL!

    I LOVE this look!:D

we get so used to seeing them covered up all winter, it's always a little weird seeing chubby arms and thighs in the summer!

That's funny, I was just thinking about those outfits the other day, and lamenting that they don't make them in size 2T (or at least, I can't find them). I love those -- they are so cute and practical!

I think you'll get used to them showing more skin once it's been summer for awhile. I put Sarah in a little romper (tank top, no pants) yesterday and she did look half-naked, but she seemed comfy and cool!

I think it sounds perfect for the heat. I would totally dress them in that. Not only do I think it's perfectly appropriate, I think you've got to enjoy them being young enough for those kinds of baby/toddler outfits for as long as you can make it work. One day you'll miss those bloomers! :p

I think it's fine. Last summer, I put them in short sleeve bodysuits and no shorts on days when it was really hot.

When I was a toddler, in the sixties, most pre-school girls wore dresses that showed their ruffly underpants. My mother always complained that the dresses I put my girls in were too long! And she's very conservative. I think the kind of outfit you're talking about is called a sunsuit, and they are very adorable on little girls. Enjoy them!

BTW, one thing I find offensive in teen/adult clothes is when they make them look babyish. We've just gotten used to seeing the same type of thing dressed up as "sexy" for older girls & ladies, when the original intent was something cool, cute and practical for tiny girls (who easily trip in longer dresses).

That's funny- I have one those on DD today. It's adorable. The back is mostly covered with a criss-cross strap thing going on. I got tons of compliments on it today. She looks like a little doll. Perfectly okay at this age!

My 2 year old DD has several outfits that are shirts with bloomers. I love them for the really hot days! This will most likely be her last summer for that type of outfit since she'll be 3 next year.

ok, so i did it. and they were soooooooooo adorable!!! I'll try to post the pics of them to my ticker when i get a chance. we went to a Mommy and Me open house and everyone complimented how cute they look. i think i felt funny about it for the reasons that both Amanda and PumpkinPies mentioned. I'm so used to seeing them fully dressed from the many months of cool and cold weather that it looked weird. Also, I was afraid that they looked too "sexy" or people would think that when in fact you are all right: it is the perfect outfit for them during these years and i won't hesitate to dress them in these cute outfits again. Thanks again all!!!

My girls just had their 2 year pics taken in the same type of outfit! The tops were halters with open backs and bloomers! I think those are the outfits we are putting them in when we go to Twinsburg too!

Now I did buy Katie an outfit at TRU a while back, it looked like it covered more than it did. I put it on her and it passes for a great baby bikini with the skirt bottom but Id never let her wear it out anywhere besides the water...yikes!!!
