I was looking at BRU tonight at their Baby's First Christmas outfits...the biggest size they had was 12 months. Well, for Olivia, that's not gonna cut it...not with Christmas still 2 months away! I didn't necessarily want a First Christmas outfit (b/c it's only wore once and I'm usually more practical than that), plus she's wearing all the twins' hand-me-downs and has WAY too many clothes right now as it it.

But, here my vent...I understand that most babies who need an outfit like that will fit into a 12 mo size or less, but NOT my baby! She's in 18 months right now...pants and tops. She's in the 90+ percentile for both height and weight. 2 months ago, she weighed 20 lbs. 4 oz (what my twins weighed at a year) and at almost 8 months old, she's wearing the SAME clothes the twins wore at 15-18 months old. Olivia was relatively small when she was born too (just under 7 lbs).

So, even if I wanted, I don't think I could even find anything in 18 month size (unless I wanted a freakin' Santa costume) for her that was "first chrismas"'ish

UGH...so frustrating! I have to dress her like a toddler even though she's still a baby!

    Girl, I hear ya!

Alex is wearing 24mos clothes. He's huge. At almost 12mos, he is 29lbs and over 32" now. He's almost as big as Amanda! He outgrew all of that cutsie newborn stuff so fast and it's so sad. My other gripe is snap-crotches. Do you know how hard it is to find outfits with a snap-crotch shirt in 24mos?? VERY!

    So, I can only commiserate!

WalMart Garanamals come with snap crotch as does the Carters outfits in Sam's Club -

That will SO be Olivia. Reagan is only 29 lbs. right now...I'm guessing Olivia is around 22-23 lbs. OMG! She's a chunk with thighs the size of a planet! LOL!! I just bought a package of 18 mo onesies b/c she needed bigger ones. They are long enough and big enough (well, they are very close to being too small) but I can barely snap them b/c her thighs are so big that the leg holes are almost too small. I will have to get 24 mo VERY soon. UGH! She's in size 4 diapers and I've also found a few size 5's (from before the girls were potty trained)...I put them on her and tehy FIT!!!! Vice versa...I didn't have an extra pull-up for nap time last weekend at my parents house, so I put a size 4 (Olivia's diaper) on Reagan...it fit Reagan better than Olivia!!! This is so bad, but one day we took a tape measure and measured Olivia's thighs vs. Reagan. Reagan's were 11 inches and Olivia's were 11.5....LOL!!!!!!! She's got 4T thigh and needs 18 mo clothes...LOL!!!!! She got her mother's genes :)

My DS is smaller and still needs 24 months and up, it is so frustrating because it always fits in one spot and not the rest. To me there isn't much a selection when this happens and it is so frustrating.

This is my problem too! My AJ has a big ol' butt, belly, and thighs - he needs 24 month or 2T pants to accomodate his girth, but then I have to roll them several times because the length is way too long! And, I have a few packs of 24-month and 3T onesie undershirts that fit him NOW... so I don't know what he will wear for undershirts when he grows out of those! He is only like 75th percentile (21 1/2 lbs at 9 months), but is in size 5 dipes because his butt is so large - 4's were giving him the sumo wrestler thong effect.

What I hate is that Ben (who is about 10th percentile) can still wear all the cute, age-appropriate clothes (he can still fit into a few 6-9 items), but I have to buy AJ's stuff from the toddler section. Makes it tough to buy matchy twin outfits... :(

You might get some use out of these things! They really help to make onesies last longer and in Olivia's case they'll help widen the leg holes!

Loved them when the twins were babies ... for us the problem was always the length :)

Man, it's too bad you don't live near us. We could have playdates with our babies. It'd be nice for Dax to not totally outweigh and tower over a playmate. Olivia would actually give him a run for his money. :D

Too funny!!!! I know, Olivia is the size of most toddlers anywhere we go! People are shocked when they ask how old and I tell them 7 months! I think it's her size and combine that with her massive amount of hair on her head...babies that age usually are bald or have a little hair...not Olivia...she was born with a wig :) I LOVE it!

My 8 month DS is starting to get tight in his 12 months clothes... so I hear you. I think it's a minority that still fits in 12 months clothes at 12 months... DD might, and she's in the 10 percentile, although even then she might outgrow them in length by then... she's almost as long as DS.

You know, this is another vent altogether. I always get the oddest looks when Alex is getting a bottle or now that's he's just starting to walk. I think people think he's 18mos or 2yrs old and that he shouldn't have bottles and that he should be walking better. They look at me like I'm some terrible mom or something. And, now, add to it that he has this bandage on his head from his surgery and I'm sure they think about calling CPS!

When ds1 had his first Christmas I was so excited to get to but him a "My First Christmas" outfit, but like you I had a difficult time. He was 10 and a hald months old on Christmas and was in an 18 months. I searched EVERYWHERE!!! I did finally find one at Osh Kosh. It wasnt the cutest thing in the world, but it did say "My First Christmas" They had cuter ones earlier on , but I didnt find it until 2 weeks before Christmas. Try to check them out, you may find one there.
