We've had a heat wave here lately and it was over 90 degrees yesterday! I've been very fortunate to get lots of hand-me-downs from our relatives in the past, so we haven't had to buy much so far. We seem to be rather light on summer clothes for the 24 mo - 2T range, though. Any suggestions for good places to find affordable toddler clothing for summertime? I'm not up for consignment, only because the ones near us don't have very good prices... <_<

Thanks for sharing your ideas on favorite places to shop! :)

I like Babies R Us for simple things like T-shirts and shorts for boys....and, Children's Place also has affordable stuff. Sometimes I hit Marshall's, because they often have Polo shirts for $12 to $16....

Oh, and Old Navy is great for inexpensive play clothes. I just bought Kevan a bunch of the cut-off knit shorts to hang out in at home, and to play in the back yard -- they were on sale for $3.90. He lives in T-shirts from Old Navy, too, and I *love* that their jeans are adjustable-waist -- a must-have for my kid!

I would say Old Navy, TJ MAxx, Marshalls, Target, and I think this place has good deals but I've never ordered from them www.crazy8.com they are a off shoot of Gymboree.

Target is a big hit here---as is KOHLS. I can usually get shirts/play clothes for less than $4 each piece on sale w/ coupon at Kohls and on sale at Target. Walmart is good too sometimes, though they run big/wide for us.

Children Place can be a nice store and online is fast shipping. Old Navy sometimes, but I have found that they tend to 'break down' faster than my girls wear them.

good luck---any mom2mom sales in your area? Ours are starting soon and I am excited to find some summer stuff!

I've been picking up summer clothes as I find sales. I just found a decent sale at JCPenney's yesterday & hit an AWESOME (50% off) sale at Carter's last weekend. I also agree with Walmart & Target, as well as Children's Place & Kohls (where you can always buy Carters). Last summer, we lived in Children's Place & Carters. Old Navy is hit or miss with sales, but I'm not usually overly thrilled with a lot of their styles. I didn't know they had adjustable jeans...I may have to check that out!

Good luck shopping....I love it ;)! Usually by the next season, I had to do a bunch of returns because I've bought too much. I'm sure this summer will be no different.

I was at Kohls yesterday and there were mega sales on Carters, Osh Kosh, and the Kohls brand that I can't think of at the moment... hmmm. Like $3 for a pair of pants or $5 for a sweatshirt. If my little devils, um I mean darlings weren't screaming and trying to jump out of the stroller I would have gotten them some things. But we had to run from the store instead so other people could enjoy some leisurely Saturday shopping.

I've had good luck getting basics for good prices at Kohls, JC Penney and Childrens Place. I've found that Walmart clothes just won't hold up to the wear and tear in my house. Target clothes are hit or miss for me. Some hold up great, some not so good. And Old Navy has great socks and fleece, but their actual clothes are cut funny. I was really surprised at how nice the kids clothes are at JC Penney. I don't shop there for myself, but I check every season for the girls and get some great deals.

I just bought some basic carter's stuff at jcpenny that was on sale (I think $14 four a set of 5 onesies) they also have the Okie Dokie brand that is pretty affordable. Most places now have a line of separates for around $5 a piece.
    Kohls- jumping beans
    Target- Circo
    Walmart- garanimals
    JC Penny- Okie Dokie

I also LOVE the children's place!

I just got home from JCP where they had tons of 4.99 a piece items of "play clothes" Tons of t-shirts and soft cotton like shorts. They also had some tunic tops I Would pair with cute pants as well for the 4.99 price. I didn't check out the boys section as I have girls. I like the okie dokie brand there, they wash REALLY well and don't shrink. I always have problems with target and kohls clothes shrinking and losing color after washings.

If you ar elike me I have to purchase a whol;ewardrobe for my girls this season. This is the first season where I have had to do this...
    Good luck!

I usually check the clearance racks at Target whenever I'm there.....I've found awesome deals. A few months ago, found swim trunks for $2.74! The other day when I was there, they had out the tables with shorts & tshirts.....anywhere from $4 - $7.

I try to avoid Walmart clothes, as they usually fall apart or the neck shrinks weird. The Garanimals & George brand are ok, though.

I also keep an eye open for sales at Children's Place; when they do sales, they do it right!

Carters stores - if you have 1 near you - are the best quality for the price. and they have great sales and coupons. i only wish they had more toddler clothes (they have some), but the 0-2 yr old stuff they have TONS of. Children's place is another fav. Target. Hanes. Kohls.

    online? kidsurplus.com

Target clothes seem to wear well for this age group. Wal Mart tends to fall apart a little faster, but okay if you do garanimals. JCPenney. Love their stuff, great sales if you pay attention. You have to be willing to really look. We don't shop in Kohl's much. Just opened recently and haven't been in much. Children's Place. Watch for their sales online. One of the best places to get Jeans for kids.

I belong to C.P.A... Children's Place Anonymous! :p They too supposedly have a twin discount of 10%! I now do not buy anything there full price(usually..). I get AMAZING deals there-it's crazy! $2.99 for jeans/overalls...nuts! I wait until it's 50% off sale prices. Can't go wrong! Definitely check them out at the end of the seasons!

Kohls is my favorite. I usually order online for the girls stuff that they don't have to try on. I have a Kohls card and it seems like every other month or so they have a sale in which you get an extra % off. I usually find a code online for 30% and get some great deals for like $3-$5 each and lots of basics.

Check the events in your area... There are a LOT of moms to moms sales in March. If you have a local Mother of Multiples Club, they will probably have one too.

There's three baby/children sales in my area this month, but of course they all had to fall on the same day, lol!
