We're going to use Fuzzibunz for our daughters, and don't know how to keep the dirty ones until we do a load of diapers. Our washer and dryer is down in the basement, so I'm not sure we'll trek down there after each change. We also have dogs, so they need to be put in something dog proof! Do you use a pail, or washable laundry bag...? Help!

We use a $12 pedal-opening plastic garbage can from Target, and my mom made washable bags out of a sheet. They have a drawstring to keep is snug around the top of the can, and the bags are about pillowcase sized. It does a great job of odor control, we only notice when the can is opened with a poopy diaper inside. The ammonia smell is pretty strong when I empty the bag into the washer, but it's brief.

We love using cloth diapers, it doesn't take much more time than disposables, and is sure a lot less expensive (well, we use prefolds and washable covers like Bummis, not Fuzzibunz).

Just an additional note- don't use bleach to wash- just presoak and then wash with light detergent (too much makes them less absorbent) and do the extra rinse cycle.

    Good luck! :)

I used a regular diaper pail with a garbage bag in it. I took the bag out and carried it to the basement, where our washer and dryer is. GL!

We just use a large home depot bucket - no lid, as that makes the smell worse. We don't use a liner either, but we do have a diaper sprayer (like a mini shower head that is attached to our toilet) and we spray our bucket out every time we wash a load.

I use a zippered wetbag, for right now, but I want to get a diaperpail bag sometime (made of pul). I have to have it waterproof...I dont' think I could do it touching a wet (with pee/water) bag. But they do make those also to fit into a regular trashcan with lid sized, and could use something like that. Most people I know how CD use the garbage pails with step lids, as a diaper pail, they seem to work easier and better at smell control than actual for cloth diaper pails.

I use a Safety First diaper pail because I have a dog, too, and a bag alone or open pail wouldn't work. The SF pail has a little vented area where you can put a deoderizer. I put a piece of cloth with some tea tree oil in that little compartment (so it can't touch the diapers...I think TTO might mess up absorbancy) and it covers what smell there is. I have two diaper pails because I wash my diapers every other day. At the end of the day, I take the full pail to the basement and leave it by the washer. Then I use the clean empty one for the next day. When both are full, I know it's time to do a load. That way you don't have smelly diapers sitting around for too long in your living area.

Here's another thing I just started since the babies began eating solids. Cloth diapering was super easy when they were EBF. Now things are MUCH messier and smellier in general. I don't have a diaper sprayer because my downstairs bathroom is tiny, so I got a dollar store sand pail with the little shovel (like kids use on the beach). I use the shovel to help get off any solids (if you can call them that...yuck) into the toilet and then I rinse the diaper in the toilet and put it in the little pail. It saves the mess of dripping water, etc., and it's easy to clean. Then I can just put it in with the other diapers. I use BG 3.0s and so far no stains or smell!

    GL!

I use a wetbag. Really keeps the odors in.
