    Hi,

I'm thinking about using cloth diapers. Not the fold 'em up kind. But I've been looking into Fuzzi bunz and Bum Genius. Leaning toward Bum Genius. I'm wondering if anyone has used them or has any advise for me on them.

I think you will get more responses in the first year forum. I am going to move it there.

Cloth diapering is great and I highly recommend it. We've used most of the brands of pocket diapers and our favorite are the Happy Heinys. Like the bG, they have a velcro closure which is great with wiggly twins and double diaper changes. Snaps really are a bit of a hassle although there are moms who love them. Most pocket diapers just need a cold rinse in the washer, hot wash, and then hot or line dry. We've been using cloth diapers for almost 4 years straight now and I would never switch back to disposables. Cloth is so much better for the baby, causes less rashes, is much cheaper, and is better for the environment (we don't wear disposable clothes do we? ;)). I have Happy Heinys that have been used for 3 years and still work great.

My 2nd favorite pocket diaper is the BumGenius 3.0 but I don't like the little pocket that covers the insert in the back because sometimes poop will get in there. The tabs are small too which makes it hard to get them off quickly, especially if you have big hands (like a guy would :)).

If your babies are born early or are small, go ahead and use up any newborn disposables you got at baby showers and then switch to the cloth (which you should already have on hand) when you are done. Another solution for small babies is to get some preemie or infant prefolds and about 6 covers and use those for a few weeks. I don't recommend prefolds for older babies because there are much easier cloth diapering methods but they work great for tiny babies who don't move much anyway.

Since Happy Heinys are our favorite they are the only cloth diaper we carry on our website. We have twins discount packages including a lifetime twins pocket diaper package for only $832. Compare that to the minimum of $3000 you would spend on disposables for two babies!

I use both fuzzibunz and bumgenius. I prefer the fuzzibunz because the snaps hold up better in the wash that the velcro does. Both work great though! But fuzzibunz win my vote by far! I used FB's with my now 2.5 year old too, and we started the twins from birth - they weighed only 6 and 7lbs when we started with them (after we were home and cord fell off)... worked great - no problems.

I'm also interested in using cloth diapers as well and trying to find more info on them and where to get them. I can't seem to find Happy Heinys on the site, can someone give me a link?

I cloth diaper all the time aside from at night and on long car rides. We love it. It has been wonderful for us. I looked at bumGenius and all the other big brands and thought they were mega pricey.

I found a wonderful woman who makes me them for me in batches of 6 for $40. Super cheap and the quality is outstanding. Better than the few name brand ones I have. Even better, I get to pick the fabrics and such.

I would say the best resource for cloth diapers is www.diaperswappers.com

    Good Luck!

My babes are 3 1/2 months old and we've been CD since the first month. I chose Bum Genius 3.0 mainly because of the cost... they are the one size and fit then now and evidently until 35 pounds. So far I like them. I like the pocket part of them too, so you can choose how much absorbancy to put in. They come with a newborn insert and then a regular one that has snaps to make them smaller according to how you have the diaper snapped. Right now, we are still mainly using the newborn insert during the day, but the regular insert at night and it works great. Our babies go 11 hrs between changes at nights and there are no leaks.

I should probably get more diapers so that I do laundry every other day... but for now, I just have 22 and do laundry every day. I do the cold wash, then add all their other clothing laundry and do a wash on hot and dry on medium. Seems to work and so far our cost is pretty minimal.

Again, all the choices were a little overwhelming, but I went with the ones that would last the whole time... so I don't have to buy more diapers when they get bigger. Some diapers were sized S, M, L... I couldn't see spending almost $20 each and then having to get new ones when they outgrew them.

I use BG 3.0 and love them! I also use prefolds and covers or fitteds and covers for at home and at night/naps. I do laundry every night also. I have enough now to go longer but my diaper pail is pretty full after 1 day. I do a cold rinse, 1 hot wash with Tide and 1 hot wash without anything to get any leftover residue out. I love cloth diapering, it's fun and addicting! I second www.diaperswappers.com and also check out www.diaperpin.com for reviews and more forums. I am right now going to try dying some of my prefolds.

My bubs are 12 weeks, and although I meant to C.D. from the beg., I've only been using them the last few weeks. I initially bought a couple B.G. 3.0 to try out a few months ago when the twins were only a couple weeks old. I liked them a lot, but we were in a very hot apartment, and noticed that their butts got pretty heated. Now that we are in a bigger place with better air flow, I thought I'd try again.
I bought another dozen of the B.G 3.0, (so we have 14 in all), but to cut costs a little, I stocked up on the microfiber inserts, and I also bought the cottom babies suedecloth socks.

At night, I use the newborn insert with the regular insert as a doubler, and this seems to do the trick. In the day time , I stuff an insert inside the suedecloth sock, and just use the B.G. 3.0 as a cover. This means that I get a whole lot more wear out of them for less cost.

I like the OSFA thing, but I have to be careful how I put them on my daughter, who is a little chunky around the thighs:)

I usually wash daily, but only because the diaper pail gets full. The mini shower is awesome for washing poop down the toilet. Easy to wash, but def. time consuming.

I use cloth diapers with my twins. We mostly use fuzzi bunz because I like the snaps, I have some bumgenius and I find that the tabs look worn really quickly. I got some Blueberry one size diapers too and I really like the ones with the snaps (the ones with the velcro tabs seem to get caught up together in the wash all the time but the snap ones are great), I like the baby Kangas from www.jamtots.com but my boy twin has really skinny legs and I find them a tiny bit loose on the leg for the time being, my girl twin has super chunky thighs and they work great for her.
Definately get a diaper sprayer for your toilet - they are awesome!
