I had the babies on their tummies for tummy time and they were both sleeping but still stirring so I left them. The pediatrician had said to let them be on their tummies until they are in a deep sleep or fussing really hard. So Camdyn started crying really hard and so I picked her up and she felt cold and clammy so I was paying attention to her. She seemed fine other than being cold and clammy, which I attributed to the intense crying. So I ended up putting her down on her back when she was calm and went to grab their bottles. It was kind of dark in the room and when I came back in Kyle looked kind of purply and wasn't moving, which was probably because he was sleeping. He is really pale anyway so it could just have been the lighting but I panicked and didn't wait to really see if he was breathing or not. I grabbed him and said his name and bounced him gently to get his attention. He moved some and still had his eyes closed which isn't unusual. He just didn't seem like himself and I was really worried. I kept trying to get him to wake up which he didn't want to do but he was breathing which was the concern. He seemed to be breathing a little harder than normal but he has been congested and will sometimes sound like he has asthma. The dr. has never seemed concerned though. So now I am nervous and watching him constantly. I haven't called the dr because he seems to be alright so I don't think they would be too concerned especially since I don't really know if he stopped breathing or for how long. I don't know what I would do if something happened to one of them. They both seem fine now, but I will probably not sleep at all tonight.

How terrifying that must have been!! :hug99: I'm so glad that both babies are okay. It wouldn't hurt to call their pediatrician and let him/her know what happened...he might have new tummy time recommendations or he might want to see them and rule out apnea or other sleep/breathing issues.

Try to get some rest - I know it will be hard as you'll be so worried!

:hug99: I'm glad he is okay! I would definitely call the ped to let him/her know what happened though. It's always good to air on the side of caution :hug99: .

Oh Jen, how scary. There were a few times when I thought the same thing about my boys and it turned out they were just sleeping...just very soundly. Did they have any respiratory issues in the hospital or any relux? Was his head turned to the side while he was sleeping on his tummy? Sounds like you gave yourself a really good scare. I am so sorry. I too would call and let the Ped know what happened, if nothing just to put your mind at ease. :hug99:

They have never had any respiratory problems fortunately. He does seem to have periods when he breaths differently, but the dr never worried about it. He always sounded fine at the drs. I think they have reflux but it hasn't been diagnosed yet. They spit up quite a bit and dribble when they drink. The dr. wants to wait and see. He has been really congested latel, I don't know if that was part of the problem or not. He had his head turned to the side, that is how I saw the purple color, or shadow which ever it was. His face looked different, but I didn't stop to see if he was actually not breathing. It was really scary. I still don't know if I should call tonight or not. He seems fine now. Thank you.

I would call them if you are still unsure. It sounds like you are concerned and maybe that would help put your mind at ease. That is what they are there for.

Reflux can cause some respiratory issues so if you think he has reflux that might be worth a follow up after this possible episode.

What a scare it must have been :hug99: ! I am not sure either what I would do in such a case. I hope everything is fine and your ped could reassure you.

    One comment, though:

I am puzzled by the recommendations from your ped about tummy time, your babies are only 1 month old. Do they have much neck strength? Personnaly, I won't feel comfortable leaving my bobys on their tummy unsupervised even for a minute until they are able to flip by themselves. This is the time my ped said it is OK to leave them on their tummy when they flip from the back in their crib. My boys are getting closer too it, but they are almost 5 months old.

:hug99: How scary! Did you call last night? What did they tell you? I'm sorry I didn't see this until this morning, but I agree with Rachel, I would have called last night because I wouldn't have been able to sleep without speaking to the pedi first. :hug99:

Thank you all for your responses. The dr. said it didn't sound like anythiing to worry about right now. They just said to prop him on his side instead of flat on his tummy for now. we will call if anything changes.
