Can someone tell me about those clocks that have the sun and moon to let toddlers know when it is time to be sleeping or time to get up? I remember reading about several people having luck with them (Meredith???), but I can't remember what they are called. I think there were two different brands, so any information on them so I can do a little research would be appreciated.

I think the Moon/Sun one is the Good Nite Lite? Don't quote me, though. I've heard that it's a wall clock that requires an outlet, so I never looked too closely into it.

We have The Tot Clock (www.mytotclock.com) & LOVE it. It's free standing, so we put it on the boys' dresser. It can plug in & run on batteries (which seem to last...we haven't had to change them & have traveled with it a few times). It plays music, stories, & white noise if you want, or doesn't do any if you want, too. It has buttons for naptime, bedtime, wake time, discipline (ie 2 mins for time out), & encouragement (ie clean up for 5 mins or something). We never use the discipline or encouragement one, but we use the rest.

We got the clock for Christmas, so the boys were just 1 month shy of 2.5. They took to it VERY quickly. Once they were confident with it, we introduced toddler beds & they did AWESOME! Even if they wake before the clock turns yellow, they stay in their beds. In fact, every morning we're woken up to, "Our clock is yellow!" It's been heaven sent for our early wakings & stopping 'short' naps.

It's pricey, but I'd recommend it 100%. I've showed it to friends, who have also bought them with good response. It's small, which makes it easy to keep in their room, a separate room for nap (if needed), or for travel (which we do a lot). My boys like to have the option to fall asleep to music, too. We haven't used the white noise, since we have a separate white noise machine anyway. We do plan to try it, though, sometime soon.

I've had some weird quirks with it that I've grown used to, but when I did email the company, they emailed back promptly with how to fix things. Great customer service!

Hope that helps...we love our Tot Clock!

We have the one that turns green when it's okay to wake. That's called the "Teach Me Time Talking Alarm Clock". We don't use the talking part though, but it has worked really well to keep them quietly in their room until it's time to get up. They may be awake and quietly chatting with each other, but they don't get out of bed until the clock turns green.

fyi, the totclcocks are out of stock until july. however, if you go to the site and sign in, they say they'll send you a 20% coupon for when they're in stock!

all the above clocks sound great. anyone owned more than one and feel like doing a comparison?

I tried to order the totclock but wasn't informed of the backorder until 6 weeks after my order. <_<

So I went out and bought a regular digital clock, taped a piece of paper over the last two numbers and trained my girls (well, one mostly) to stay in their room until they see number 7. It worked day 2 and has been working ever since. Best $10 ever spent!!

I ordered the Good Nite Lite today. I REALLY hope it works. Any chance it will help her understand when it is time to go to bed too? Sleep has become a huge battle ever since she quit sucking her fingers. Sigh... I am starting to go crazy due to my own sleep deprivation. I miss the days when I could put my kids in their crib, they would go to sleep happy and wake up 11-12 hours later. I'd put them in their cribs for a nap and they'd go to sleep happy and wake up 2-3 hours later. Karina still does that. Annelise...not so much. What happened to my good sleeper?

Beth, good luck, I hope that the night light helps.

We got it when Meredith posted about it and it has helped tremendously. Sometimes it helps too much. If I try and put them to bed earlier and the moon is out ... watch out! I get an ear full. So it might help your girls (or girl ;) ) learn that it's bedtime. And if I get them up before the sun comes out they aren't to happy about it, but luckily that is rare that I do wake them earlier.
