HELP. Zach can climb into his crib (with the rails UP!!!) but not get out yet. They are 2.5 now and I am wondering if this is the beginning of the END for cribs. Dh thinks the crib tents are a waste of time (but i make the final decision on these issues :p ). They are about 28 and 31 lbs and 37-38 inches maybe? If that matters? What did you all do at this point? Wait for the THUMP indicating they can get OUT now? Or transition them to toddler beds before they get a concussion or broken leg? Hmmmph. they are not potty trained at all yet either if that matters. For the toddler beds I am so in love with the beetle bug type ones or the fire trucks. Not sure how they will fit in their tiny room together though. I saw some on craigslist for $50! Oh they go down to bed at night pretty well but naps are very intermittent - mostly only in my van now   <_<

    TIA

ETA: I am ready for the chaos while they check out their new freedom once they get toddler beds. Dd did the same thing for about a week then it was boring and she just slept on bed/floor wherever. I did not care as long as she SLEPT. But how do you keep them in their room now? They can climb most gates now and I have to close their door at bedtime as we have a one floor ranch and they can see/hear us and wont sleep with door open.

My two can climb into cribs, have been able to for some time now. DS just proved to me that he can do so with the sides up. He is not sleeping through the night so putting him in a toddler bed is out of the question, IMO. They have NEVER climbed out of them. We are not getting crib tents. Good luck!

yeah, Gabriel can climb in too! But he is only 1!! :icon_eek: We are way to young to switch yet, so we are going to get a crib tent for him. But with yours, being 2 1/2, I would switch them. My oldest went into a toddler bed around 2 so that we could make room for the twins. We made a big deal out of it. The first few days he was scared, so he still had the option of sleeping in his crib, but after a few days he liked his new "big boy bed." I never had a lot of problems with him getting out. Once asleep he usually stayed asleep. Good luck!

One of mine used to climb in the crib. But they never climbed out, so hopefully that's the case for you.

Oh good to hear some never climbed out even though they climbed in ;) I moved dd at 2.5 into a toddler bed only because i got a cute free one from a friend. It went well so to speak. But everything is sometimes 5 times the chaos with twins...as you all know! I guess I will start researching toddler beds as the time is coming.

Oh they also can easily climb out of PNPs but we put a pretty good healthy fear in them if they get out at my inlaws house or summer cottage

    TIA any more thoughts???????

Update! They still cannot climb out of crib. But boy they did a great job climbing out of PNPs at my inlaws summer cottage last week! Nothing could keep them in so I napped with them in a full size bed. Well I stayed until they were asleep and child proofed the room as much as possible and stood guard outside the door :D So those PNPS are going on craigslist or ebay? I think the limit is 35 lbs and 40 inches anyways.

Mine can't climb in or out. But I think the time is coming to take off the front rail (the crib converts into a bed).

Same here.. they can climb in, even with the sides up, but are not climbing out.
