You are all going to be sick of me soon enough! I've been gone for 3 weeks and had no place to go for advice! But-don't fret! I am back! On to the question...

Now that my boys are crawling-how in the world do you all clean your floors???? I have a beagle who sheds like there is no tomorrow. And then my hair is everywhere also. I can't stand it. I sweep the floor-and then I still see hair everywhere! We have tile in the kitchen, the rest of the house is hard wood floors.

I am not one to clean the floors regularly-but now that they are all over them-it's gonna have to be done-at least more than it is now!

I want QUICK, EASY, and CHEAP ideas on how to keep the floors clean-and to get rid of all the hair! Any ideas are welcome! TIA!

We have 2 Golden Retrievers that shed like mad twice a year and shed reasonably the rest. When the boys were crawling I vacuumed the hardwoods everyday sometimes twice a day with a Shark vacuum cleaner. Its a smaller vacuum with a retractable cord meant for tile or hardwoods-got it a Home Depot. Love it!!

I think Swiffer is the greatest thing ever! I used it on all my hardwood floors, and it works on linolium (sp?) and tile too. Its the best for the hair and dust.

(I'm not looking forward to crawlers!!)

I use a regular Swiffer on my tile in the kitchen for a quick clean up. Or our Oreck vacuum. And I try to mop it more regularly now. I use the Swiffer wet for that.

We vaccum a lot! I also second the Swiffer.

I also posted on this a while back. I have two english bulldogs who NEVER stop shedding - I mean you can brush them for 10 minutes, have a mountain of hair, pet them 30 min later and the hair is falling out again! I love my swiffer vaccuum -it is the best for dog hair, dust and dander. The only problem is that after charging it is only enough power to do a couple rooms before it dies, so I have to get another one (they're not too expensive, about $25). So if you have alot of hard floors, I recommend two. Because I always do the main living area and kitchen, it dies, I plug it back in, then I forget to do the rest of the house, always.

I have an open floor plan, so I am getting a big baby gate to block off the kitchen/breakfast nook (will keep the babies out of there and also give us a place to put the dogs when the babies are in the main living area). I also gated off our dining room (which we turned into a play room), so no dog hair in there. This is where they spend most of their time and they have lots of room to roam. Then I need ANOTHER gate to block the hallway to the bedrooms - keeps the babies in, dogs out and hopefully most of the dog hair out!

Right now, because of the dog hair issue, the babies are only in the main living area in a play pen or in their rolling walkers - and I always put an old pair of socks on them when in the walkers and the socks get washed ALOT, eww, I can't imagine letting them crawl on that floor ( and I swiffer ALL THE TIME). I joked that I should tape Swiffer pads to their feet when they're in the walkers. :)

So I don't know what the answer is. Mine just started crawling, so that is the solution for now. I don't know what I'll do when they start walking!

No crawlers here but we have a lab who sheds like crazy! All hardwood and tile too. First, we bought a Dyson Animal. Has a hepa filter. I LOVE it! Well worth the $$ especially since you don't ever have to replace the filter. Then I vaccuum usually every other day. Then the best thing we did was to shave our dog. Hardly any fur is shed now!!

I just vacuum all the time and also mop with a steam mop - that way there's no chemicals since my girls sometimes lick the floor.

When the twins were babies I convinced DH to get us a Roombs (robot vacume) and it was a lifesaver. You just turn it on and it vacumes for you. I loved leaving the house and coming back to the first floor (open concept) vacumed!
