I find myself frustrated often trying to get in the crevices on these darn sippy cups. Even after going through the dishwasher I don't feel they're totally clean. I end up sticking a knife in the hard to reach places. I have all different kinds so I know it's not related to the brand.

What do you all do to keep them clean? I can't wait until we're done with them!

I still have a bunch of the brushes that came with the Dr. Brown bottles and those work pretty well. I only use the platex sippies, so there is only the value thingy and the underside of the lid to really get into. I toss the valves into the dishwasher basket. Also, (and I am not the best at this) rise them out as soon as they are finished with them. They will get yucky pretty fast.

I always take all the parts apart & put the inside "guts" in the bottom fork rack.....they seem to get cleaner on the bottom

I try to rinse my right away with very hot water and then load them into the dishwasher. I've never had a problem. I do have a cup brush which allows me to get in the crevices when I need to but othewise I find that the rinsing and dishwasher get them plenty clean.

You could try just filling a big bowl or pan of some sort with hot soapy water and then putting them in the dishwasher when you are ready to load.

I LOVE Oxi-Clean! I stick the lids in a clean bucketful of very hot water and a scoop or two of Oxi-Clean. It bubbles like crazy, and when it stops bubbling I take them out. Any gunk in any crevices is gone. Of course I rinse them well and then run them through a sanatize cycle in the dishwasher. It works well for lots of children's items (gunky toys, etc...)

I also use the Dr Brown's brushes. I keep them around to clean the straws but they work great to get into those little places when I find one somebody threw behind the couch or hid in the play kitchen. <_< The best way to prevent the gunk buildup is to rinse them right away, but we all know how often that happens!

  7. every once in a while, especially when I notice the little mold starting to grow, i soak all the lids and valves in the sink or a big bowl with diluted bleach. it takes it all off and then I just rinse them and put them through the dishwasher again to get all the bleach smell off. it works awesome!
