Claire has arrived!

I'm a little late posting this, but you all know how it is the first week!

I went into labor on 1/8/09 (my due date) about 11pm. We headed to the hospital around midnight and got there around 12:30. When they checked me about 1 am, I was only dilated to a 1.5cm. My water broke shortly after that and labor really accelerated. Shortly thereafter, I was at a 4cm and they moved me to a delivery room. By the time we got there, I was ready to push (no time for the epidural I had planned for!). She was born at 2:59am on 1/9/09 with some vacuum assist. This was a VBAC delivery so I'm happy it worked out, although I would have planned for it to go a little bit slower!

Claire Emma weighed 6lbs. 3 oz and is 19 inches long. There was a very scary episode in the delivery room where after they handed her to me to nurse, she stopped breathing and turned blue. They whisked her away to the NICU, where she stayed for 3 days. They think it was a problem with sorting out how to breathe, suck and swallow, since there have been no further problems. I had definitely not planned on doing NICU again, but she is home now and doing well. We are busy trying to figure out how to take care of everyone and working out our new "schedule".

Just wanted to update....I'm not a good technology person so probably won't do photos...trust me she's absolutely beautiful!

Wow, I'm glad she is alright!!! I had a similar 3-day NICU stay with Olivia and it was totally unexpected, so I know how you feel. I LOVE her name, it's gorgeous!!! That was my pick this last time around, but DH didn't agree with me. I can't wait to see pics ofyour little princess!
