    Hi,

My kids are 2 and almost 5 months. The circus is coming to town this coming weekend and I think it would be a good idea to take them, my DH thinks it's too early and they are too young. What do you guys think? I think they would enjoy it. They love reading Dumbo so they have an idea about the Circus. They love the Zoo. They are able to sit still and watch a Disney movie, so I guess they will have the patience. I think it should be fun. Am I crazy or should I go for it? My DH is open to the idea, but he has his doubts. How old were your kids when you took them to the Circus for the first time and how was it?

    Thanks in advance,

    Monica

I'd take them. I think they will enjoy it. When my kids enjoy watching something, they will freeze up... Lol. Just don't expect they watch entire show. When they can't take it anymore, then leave. No biggie, take it easy. Bring lot of Snacks and drinks. Just go out and enjoy. U will be surprised how much fun you all will have

I think they'd enjoy it too. I'd read about the company you want to see though. My kids' school had a trip to see one last year and I refused to go because they have a really bad reputation on how they treat animals (read, making sick animals perform and an elephant died because of it). I just didn't want to support that.

I think the twins were almost 2 when we took them, go in with realistic expectations. It's going to be loud, lots of bright lights, tons of people. Explain it all ahead of time. If they are completely overwhelmed, then you'll have to eat the price of the tickets and go home. But, chances are they will enjoy it and have a blast :)

We took our girls at 2. I remember b/c I was pregnant with Cooper at the time. Honestly, they were too young. It wasn't a hassle or anything, but we were lucky that we were on bleachers at the end (but there were empty bleachers near us that were a bad angle so those seats weren't sold) because by the end the girls were playing musical chairs and running up and down the empty bleachers.

I think my kids were at least 4 when we took them to the circus. My kids just would not have enjoyed it earlier. We had free tickets, but between pony rides & elephant rides along with ONE snack, I spent $75 for two kids and myself. It was crazy.

Mine boys are four and we have not taken them to the circus yet. Circuses are very loud and can be very scary to little ones. I would be hesitant. I grew up going to the Shrine Circus every year (worked at the Shrine circus a number of years as well) and I remember when I was little how terrified I was of all the noise.

If you think your kids can handle loud noise, crowds, smells, fire etc. then go for it. But go knowing you may have to leave.

I am also very picky about what circus my boys will go see when we eventually take them to see one. Some have bad reputations and I simply will not support them.

We have only wandered around a circus but not seen an actual show. For my LOs that was enough stimulation, enough to look at, enough noise. They enjoyed it but were wary of many things, so I think they would have been scared of a show. So, if you can wander around (we could without even paying entrance fees) and see how they react that will probably give you an idea whether they would enjoy the show.
