Circumcision kind of growing back?

We had our 9 month appointment today and everything was good....except the penis region. I had read on a previous TS discussion that this has happened before, so I *thought* I was doing a good job of pulling the skin back during diaper changes. I guess not, because part of his skin isn't as far back as it should be. [IMG]

So, the pedi said to get it in the bathwater and start encouraging it to go back. DH gave it a thorough inspection tonight and didn't think we'd be able to do it. ICK!

What to do? The pedi didn't seem like it'd be a big deal. DH obviously isn't going to give it a good yank, so I guess it's up to me. Have you had to pull it back on your little guys?

Yes...put him in the tub, and just gently rub it back with the washcloth. You might not get it all the way back the first time. I watched the doc do it, and he was not gentle at all, but very quick about it. [IMG]

I didn't have to, but [IMG] GOOD LUCK! You can do it!

Yes, after a long soak in the bath, I took my guy out and laid him on his back and gently pulled it back. It detached pretty easily and my guy just made one little whimper and then it was done.

Okay, I got part of it. I'll get the rest during bathtime tonight. He didn't even flinch.

I never heard of this, but was kind of wondering if my ds's was doing that. Can it happen just on part? I always thought maybe the dr just didn't do a clean line or something. Nobody's ever mentioned it at the baby exams, so maybe that's how it's supposed to look?

It can just happen on part. I think you should be able to see the ridge all the way around. If not, it may have reattached. [IMG]

We are still going through this with Logan. Last time we were at the doc, he had to peel it back and it bled. I really thought I was doing a good job pulling it back each diaper change. I keep Neosporin on it now because I know it's raw. I hope this stops & it fixed itself - anyone know when or some magic medicine for it? I want to cry for him!

    Keri,
I would just keep putting vaseline on it at every diaper change, it might keep it from reattaching again.

Becky is right, vasoline will do it until it gets mature enough to NOT grow back on its own. Good luck Mommy, now I am going to start watching my little guys' thingies. [IMG]

We got the whole thing accomplished last night.

No, it didn't grow back all the way around, just part of it.

I also thought I was doing a good job of keeping it pulled back during diaper changes.

The pedi said that the entire crown needs to be visible. Now that I see what it should look like again, it's super duper obvious if it isn't. There needs to be a ridge all the way around.

I am covering him in either Desitin or Aquaphor/Vaseline at all diaper changes now. It doesn't seem to bother him as much as it bothers me. [IMG]
