I started with my other children around 6-7 months. We only let them cry for maybe 5-10 min though. 1-2 months is really early. There are alot of previous posts the past couple days on this .
I think most peds recommend 4-6 months. I did CIO with my boys at 6 and 9 months. It's too early. :hug99:
Ditto pps - it's too early. CIO is only appropriate once the babies can self-soothe (suck thumb/fingers/fist, reinsert paci, etc). When they're that young, they really do need your help. You could always let them fuss just a couple minutes and see if they settle, but at that age I wouldn't go any longer than a couple minutes.
I didn't at that age but that doesn't mean I didn't want to!! I remember that time as so trying and wishing I could lay them down and run away!! Some things I did instead were: Use swings, bouncies, rocking chairs, and car seats to get them to sleep. With my son, I never relied on that stuff BUT with the girls if they fell asleep, they stayed wherever they were! I also started a routine very early of bath, nursing, bed (swaddled very tightly) and often bed was the swing! By often I mean the first 12 or more weeks for one of my girls. I was so exhausted by that age but you are so close to turning the corner! I agree with the pp that they need you at that age. Now my girls are slowly becoming better able to self soothe and it amazes me that they ever were screaming round the clock! Good luck!!
I do this already... Almost 3 months.. I only let them cry for a couple of mins though... Normally DS (mr. cranky) crys for 2 mins then hes calmed and falls asleep.. DD on the other hand really only cries of there is something wrong..
