They are napping and ds is crying and I am wondering maybe he pooped or something. It is one of those times that is really getting to me. I would hate to go in and have him end his nap because I went in but if I don't he might end it anyway.

I set a time limit -- well, it's really the end-of-my-rope limit for screaming!

If there's nothing wrong, I'll say goodnight again and put them back down. Only 15 minutes is how long I can stand it. Usually doesn't go that long.

I think it depends what you are comfortable with. The true CIO is to not go in at all. I know many here have been successful with a modified version of that but we had to do CIO without going in

If the crying doesn't stop after 15 min. I do go in and check to make sure nothing is wrong. If everything is okay and I think they should still be napping I will put them back down.

I was a little less strict about not going in at naptimes for some odd reason! I never went in at night. I think it's ok to go in and check, as long as you come right back out, once you know everything is ok.

I give it a time limit of 10 min - if they're still crying after 10 min then I know the nap is over or something is wrong

We also have to NOT go in. It's really hard but it is working again so we need to keep at it.
