    Ok, well I am really confused as to the CIO method.
    Our daughter has just recently been having a hard time going down at night.
    Feeding at 6ish, followed by a dip in the pool and/or bath and then they go down at 8 pm.
    We then wake them at 9ish(usually 9:30) for their last feed.
    Then we wake them at 6am their first feeding so we can go to work.
    Then put them back to bed. Sydney sleeps until 9am or later(my mom watches them and wakes her up to play for a few minutes before time to eat. Parker usually wakes anywhere between 7-8 am.
    ~
    They both sleep through the night.
    Is the CIO only for babies who don't?
    Sydney's problem is going to bed at 8am.
    They are both teething and I know her patience is thin by nighttime.
    I am not sure if we should try putting her to bed earlier or what.
    We let her cry for 5 min then , go in and rub her head and put the binkie in.
    She calms and then she cries again.
    Then we wait 10 min.
    She finally goes to sleep.
    I have not read the CIO method, so I am not sure if that is what we are doing or not.
    I just ordered Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Weissbluth., but would like to hear what you all think.
    ~~~
    Just today, we are trying to increase their oz and transition them to one less feeding, going from every 3 hrs to 3 1/2 and then hopefully 4 hrs.
    There are many CIO methods. Your current system doesn't sound too bad. I think the push to CIO is if you spend a really long time trying to get your babies down at night, if your babies don't nap well, or if they're at an age that they should sleep through the night, but aren't doing it yet. 8 is at the upper limit for bedtime for little babies. If your babies are happy up until 8 pm, then they're probably fine. If they spend the evening fussing, they probably need an earlier time.
    HTH.
    Edited to fix: If you put the p right next to an 8, it turns into a crazy symbol! 8Pm
    I'm sorry, I missed this post today!! When I did CIO, I didn't go in at all. I put them to bed and never went back in until morning. TS is being wacky for me right now, so I can't see your ticker, but our bedtime started out at about 930 and by 6 months or so was back at 7pm. It was a gradual progression. I would try a little earlier if she seems to be overtired and is having a hard time going down at 8.
    Everything I have read about the CIO says that you shouldn't really do it until 6 months or so because they can lose trust with you. My Jenna still does not go to bed good. She wants to be rocked and I she can't seem to settle herself down when we have tried to have her CIO so I just hold her or rock her until she goes to bed. What can I say I a a sucker :) anyway hope this helps.
    Now I see your ticker! Yes, most recommendations for CIO are for 4 months or older. My babies were 6-8 months when I did it.
    It is ok to let a baby cry for up to 15 minutes. She doesn't sound like she is having too much trouble falling asleep though so I'd say your method seems to be working.
    I also didn't do CIO with my ID girls until 6 mos old, as recommended by our pedi. Once the girls are asleep in their cribs and woke up crying in the middle of the nite, we never went in until the morning. We made sure the crib was safe, no blankets or toys in there at all. Now they sleep thru the nite from 7:30ish to 6:30am.
