We started CIO for Caleb on Sun Night. So far, he cried half an hour on Sun and and hour last night. Just wondering how long it took (days, weeks, months?) before this worked for you who have used CIO. No debates about the appropriateness of CIO, please... we have 2 of our ped's blessing, in fact, it was their idea.

I want to say it took 2 nights before the crying totally stopped. GL!

It took mine maybe 4 or 5 nights before they would not cry at all. But the crying lessened every day so it got easier & easier.

we had about 3 nights of pretty intense crying (30 minutes or more), then it was hit or miss for a couple of weeks (some nights they went down without crying at all, other nights they would fuss for 10 - 15 minutes). now they usually only fuss or cry if they're over tired. GL!

On night two, DS cried for about 10 minutes and then STTN for the first time. Night three, no crying. Good luck! We did it at the same age, and I thought it worked well.

Same here. We struggled more with nighttime wake ups than getting them to sleep. The first two nights were dreadful, but after that it was hit or miss. When Jake would get a new tooth he woke up and cried a lot more and we had to do a little more CIO around 11 months b/c it was a long couple months of teeth and milestones.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that Caleb mostly wakes in the middle of the night (11 and 3), but has no problem falling to sleep at bedtime. I don't know if that makes a difference in the replies. Thanks all for the encouragement, though.

I started mine last week wehn she went down for her first nap for the day (930). She cried for 15 minutes and then the second nap she cried for 7, that was 5 days ago and she's only cried once (for 4 minutes) since then.

Are you letting him CIO when he wakes in the night, too? That was always the toughest ones for me, I felt like they were going to wake everyone in the house with their crying although, surprisingly, it was usually just me.

Yes, he does't have to CIO at bedtime, he just goes to sleep, but in the middle of the night he usually causes the most trouble. Thankfully we all sleep with noise machines, so he doesn't wake up any of the rest of us. It's still tough, though. we're supposed to go camping this weekend, and that may be pretty difficult if he's not STTN by then... I'd hate to have to wake the whole campsite or stay home.

Hopefully, it won't come to that.
