Finally, thanks to all the encouragement DH and I have received here, it took a week or so, but it did work. Now, this coming from a mommy who thought it was the end of the world to let them CIO! Also, they woke each other when they cried, cried forever, and I just couldn't take it...but last week was the end. I knew it was time when I was so mad at them for not going to sleep even when I rocked them, with a bottle, for 30 minutes or longer while they squirmed and fussed! All I could do was cry. Why wouldn't they let me love them to sleep? It was simple. They were ready to do it alone. Just that simple.

The first night Ella ate her crib and then threw it up...Griffin cried 10 min or less..The second night was 37 minutes and 4 respectively and by the 4th night...piece of cake...So this is my story of encouragement to those of you who have babies who wake each other, wake in the night (we cut DS off from a 33O feeding in this process, also), or those who fight rocking or wake frequently. They seem to love putting themselves to sleep. We still rock them until they are drowsy- about 3 minutes or less and then lay them down. It's been the best ever- JUST AS YOU ALL SAID :a_smil09: THANK YOU ALL SOOO MUCH!!

They are sleeping thru the night again, (they stopped around 81/2 mo...due to teething and never really went back to STTN regularly)....and it is beautiful!

Oh, and by the way, THEY NEVER WOKE EACH OTHER DURING CIO! I guess they were just ready to do it!! So, if you're thinking about it- just do it! They wake up happy and honestly don't remember a thing ;)

Do you think they were ready because they are a little bit older? (I tried cio @ 6months corrected age 41/2mo and they were not ready.) On night 8 it was worse than ever. I'm going to try again, but I'm scared!! The fact that there are2 complicates matters and they need to nurse to go to sleep. Christopher would be happy to nurse all night long--aaaah!

    Anyway, good for you!

It's so nice to hear such wonderful success stories! I was hoping to add mine here shortly, but now we're stopping because my boys are sick. Hopefully we'll be able to start up again soon, but I DREAD IT since I absolutely HATE CIO. Our Ped 'ordered' me to be far enough away from the crying that I couldn't hear it since he joked that dads handle it better than moms :). I stuck around, but it was still tough!!!!

    Enjoy your sleep!!!!

It could've been because they were older- or maybe that I'd just had enough! ha ha! I was sooo afraid, but now I don't hate it when they cry for a few minutes. I don't dread naptime, because I know it's inevitable...they will go to sleep and I don't have to spend an hour! If it gets too loud...I jump in the shower or go do something loud, like laundry- that always needs done and I tell myself when I'm done, if they are still crying...I'll check on them (knowing that they'll be asleep by the time I'm done) and it always works ;) PM me if you want more encouragement!!

I admit I am half-heartedly trying.... Congrats to you, it gives me something to think about tonight.

Here's my problem- they go to bed easily but wake-up during the night. Last night, I let DS cry for 1 hour before I went in and found him covered in vomit and pee. He's not sick but threw up from crying. Now how did I expect him to fall asleep like that? So if they cry at unusual times, I guess the rule is check on them after a few minutes. If they cry at the normal time (anywhere from 2am-4am), let them cry????
    Anyone? Buehler? Help?
