so last week my girls were sleeping up to 2 hours in the cribs. now they are once again waking up after 30 minutes. so i have to let them CIO - again. so basically they CIO when i put them down (not as bad, but sometimes they WILL fight it),and then they have to CIO again after 30 minutes. i refuse to take them out after just 30 minutes. that's just not a long enough nap for them. they need at least an hour. but is it normal that my babies have to CIO twice in one nap? does anyone else have to do this?

p.s. another question... does anyone else have that one twin whose cry is way more heartbreaking than the other's? ivana i can handle, cuz she just wails out, and we're used to hearing her (our drama queen), but marina just has this girly sob and it's so hard to hear her cry, especially because she rarely cries.

p.s.s i swear she's crying "mama" which all the more makes me want to go in there and save her! lol and *tear*

I've let my boys CIO if they wake up too early from a nap, especially if it's only 20 or 30 minutes because I know they're exhausted and they need to sleep. I also know that they're not hungry or needing to be changed. They don't usually cry for more than a few minutes before they're back to sleep. If the cries last longer than 5 or 10 minutes I'll go into to check on them....
Van's cry is so sad to listen to, something about it that just breaks my heart. Finn's cry I can handle, but Van's sounds so desparate. I hate CIO though it works wonders... Good luck!

Oh yeah I had to do CIO twice in one nap. My girls will occasionally still wake after 30mins and need to fuss back to sleep. Sometimes it takes 15mins but they almost always go back to sleep. I will sneak in and check on them without letting them see me if it goes on any longer than 15mins.
Maia yells like she is angry, every now and then she'll have heartwrenching cries but Sofia just pulls at your heart! Its awful to listen to, I had a really tough time letting her cry but it was definitely worth it in the long run. She went down WIDE AWAKE this morning and was asleep within 5mins with NOT a peep!

    Good luck!!!

I jsut posted this EXACT same issue with my almost 7 month old DD. I have having to consistently CIO at least once if not twice durring each nap and it's heartbreaking and YES her cry gets to me much more than DS's cry.

I obviously have NO answers but feel better that Im not the only one having to do this and that Im not being totally cruel b/c I KNOW that she NEEDS this sleep--

    ugh....

    HI,

You may want to start watching them a little closely for sleepy signs that may occur a little earlier than your previous schedule. It's common for sleep disruptions around milestones. I always had luck with keeping an eye out for a rubbed eye, a yawn or the like and then whisking them off to sleep. It really helped with their going down easily. This usually needed to be earlier than they were used to.

I thought I was the only one! So are any of you all having luck with the second cio? My girls consistently wake at the 45 minute mark -- I try to not go in if it's under an hour, but so far they've only gone back to sleep ONCE, ever. Strange, b/c they go to sleep (at first) fairly well, with usually 15 minutes of crying at the most. But they won't go BACK to sleep once they wake. Good luck! No way 30 minutes is enough sleep -- surely they'll be back to their long naps soon. I bet you'll look back in a week or two and notice that it was right around the time of a milestone or a lot of growth, too.

Oliver does this exact same thing EVERY nap. Cries and fusses after 30-40 mins. He's been doing this for 2 months now. I have been hoping he would figure it out by now. I let him cio every nap and he always falls back asleep but it's stressful and it sometimes wakes up Charlotte, who would happily sleep for 1.5 or 2 hours. So, just know that you're not alone we too participate in the "nap&scream" game!!

Definitely had to do CIO twice during naps when they were smaller. They go down very well now. My standing rule (now with 2 naps) is they must be in their cribs for 60 minutes for morning nap and 90 minutes for afternoon nap. And, yes, I do tend to be more sensitive to one's cry. But, that changes about monthly on whose it is!
