So my girls have STTN on their own a couple times in the past month. I was thinking about giving them 2 more weeks (till 8mo) to accomplish this on their own then I was contemplating doing CIO. I think they are waking out of habit but I am not sure because they do eat but definitely not a lot.

They BF 6x a day and have 3 solid meals. They take 2 great naps and they go to bed about 7ish and get up 630-7am.

Here is what nights have looked like for the past week:

    Fri 1230 both
Thu 1100 Maia (snack) and 230 both
Wed 1030 Sofie, 1130 Maia, 300 both (snack)
    Tue 300 both
    Mon 100 both
Sun 1000 Sofie and 1200 Maia (snack)
    Sat 1215 Maia (Sofie STTN)

I am just looking for suggestions.
CIO will suck especially since we share a bedroom and I'd have to sleep on the couch for like a week but I think it might almost be that time.

ETA: I am well aware that *I* might be the problem, they wake and I just nurse them to get them back to sleep so I can go back to sleep. :D

CIO does work... and I see nothing wrong with using it, especially since your girls are definitely old enough.

I have nothing more to add, but wish you luck!

DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! Don't know if you had been keeping up with my boys' sleep issues but we were having the same problem-they wake up and I immediately nurse them back down. I did CIO and it took them both 2 DAYS!!!! That's IT! Honestly, the first one was the only bad one. On night two I figured out that if I just turned the TV up loud in the living room and fell asleep watching a movie or reading a book, I couldn't really hear them. Night 3 I went upstairs and turned the monitor on but with no sound, just light. I waited and waited but NOTHING! They were cured! And the wierd thing is, Braxton sleeps in our room so we weren't even trying with him, just Caleb. But he jumped on the bandwagon as well. It's been a few weeks now and we've had no setbacks. they're teething and we even stayed in a strnger's house (all of us in one room) and they still haven't regressed. It's awesome. You will feel so much better when they start consistently STTN. I definitely recommend it :D

BTW: This is my first post as a REWARDS MEMBER! I briefly visited the Corn and all I can say is tee hee hee  I like it!

I did CIO at 5 months with Bea to get her to initially go to sleep for the night, because honestly, stuff like rocking her, walking around, etc just didn't work. She needed to be left alone and cry for a few minutes, then she was out. Ainsley was the toughie. She used to wake at night and I would put her in bed with me. By 10 months, I just couldn't do it anymore. She would be up in the middle of the night wanting to play. So, I did CIO, but in stages. Oh, I was also holding her to sleep every night. That was starting to take 2 hrs some nights! Hold her, put her down, cry, repeat. Anyway, first I did CIO for the night waking. I would initially go in just to make sure it wasn't poop, then lay her back down, and I would go back to bed and turn the monitor off. Mean, but I was flippin' exhausted. Once that was done (took a few days) then I did CIO for initially going to sleep. That one was tough, but once it was done, it was the best thing I could have ever done! Hope it goes well. Once you decide to do it, stick with it!

I am really hoping (as I have been for the past month) that they will just do it on their own but I want to prepare myselef for if that doesnt happen. I definitely do not want to be dealing with this at a year old and if I am enabling them then I would rather deal with it now. I dont want to be an enabler! ;)
And I dont have a problem with CIO, I did it for going down (I also got tired of rocking/shooshing/patting) and I did it for naps, to get them to sleep more than 30mins. But nighttime is so different because I dont think clearly when I am half asleep.

Larami, Congrats on them sleeping through! I knew you were doing CIO and I saw a few posts (like the drinking one lol) but I didnt see one saying it had worked! That is great news especially since Braxton sleeps in your room, thats encouraging. I always wondered if that was part of the problem, us sharing a room, but I only have 1 bedroom so it has to work.
And VERY COOL on the rewards membership!! See you in the corn! :p

I would do it, set a time frame for it to work (say 5 nights, though I am sure it will be less) and stick with it!!!!! My biggest peice of advice is not to waiver  DO NOT GO IN, DO NOT NURSE THEM WHEN THEY WAKE....period, from 7pm-6:30am. It will be difficult for all of you for a few nights, but then its sooooooooooooooooo wonderful and so worth it!!!

Please pm me if you want support or tips :D

I really like the "Sleepeasy Solution" book. It's very supportive in a girlfriend way of CIO -- it recommends ice cream for the first night! My boys have done wonderfully -- it provides instruction on creating a sleep plan, which can include dream feeds, if you like, or instructions for night weening. It even has a section (small though) on twins. The first couple of nights were rough, but it got better.

We seperated the boys for the first week. We put the boys back in the same room after the first week, and they are together for the second night, and we had 15 minutes of fussing and that's it.

My boys are sleeping from about 7:45 pm to 7:00 am! I do a dream feed at 10 pm, and am weening a 2 am feeding, which we are on our last night of tonight. It's been hard on me -- but it is so much better now.

And I second the "Stick with it" I "started" several times in the last few weeks, but I would always give in, or they would have one really good night, and then the next night they would just cry and cry, so I would give in. It's hard -- but it just meant we had to keep starting over, and it just got worse and worse, so don't give up -- if you stick to it, it will get better.

    Good luck!

I would do it! I wish I could do it more often but DH hates it. I can only do it when he isn't around. but they eventually got it. GL

I also have to say, GO FOR IT!! CIO changed my life. I finally feel like I am emerging from the sleep deprived fog. My girls are sleeping 10 hour stretches now, sometimes longer. I agree with the pp's and the key is to stay strong and be consistant. Good Luck!!
