At what age did you SUCCESSFULLY implement CIO to have your twins STTN?

Obviously this is only for parents who used the CIO sleep strategy. I'm just curious when most people had success with this method for getting babies to STTN. Some books say to start at 4 months, others at 6 months, and others not until 9 months!

    Mods,

Could we move this to ages 1-4 forum?

    Thanks!

We didn't need to do it until around 10 months, when they both started waking up to play in the middle of the night. So 10 months with the twins, however we did do it around 8 months with our oldest DD. I personally would not do it until around 6-7 months at the earliest. The key though is to stick with it. It was a rough couple of night, but only took about 3-5 nights each time.

I'm going to be honest here. We started CIOing with Kevin about 8-10 months and really he continued to cry nightly til about 15 months. He is ONE stubborn toddler! I don't think that is typical of CIO though. Usually 7-8 months is the most successful age.

I think we did a short CIO at about 4.5 months. They had been STTN and then started waking up. We had them CIO at that point and it was just one or two evenings. Over the past 6-8 months, we have to do a CIO phase here and there. For example, they had rotavirus and while they were sick we allowed them to sleep with us when necessary. So, we CIO then. We are successful with it simply b/c there is no other option for us. It usually only takes a night or two and they "remember" that mommy/daddy isn't coming to rescue them!
