My pediatrician recommended CIO at check up, so what the heck I'll do it.

I'm up at since 2 a.m. because the babies are taking turns crying it out tonight.

This is night four. They each have gone two seperate nights sleeping all night, tonight neither slept all night.

Is it normal to go back and forth?
I don't remember my other boys doing it. Once they slep all night that was unless sick or something.

The crying the first night was almost an hour, tonight Brady 15 minutes, and Danny yet to be determined.

We didn't do CIO until 7 months b/c my preemies still needed their night feedings. I do have to say that I've had to do CIO several times since. Teeth came in, illnesses and hitting new milestones all messed with their sleep. I have never heard of a Dr. encouraging CIO before 6 months so I'm not sure what advice to give!

Yes, I think it's normal for them to take turns. One of mine would wake the other up, then fall asleep and it would go back and forth. I hope it's over soon and good luck.

Yep the first few nights they took the crying in turns for a couple of nights. We did CIO for bedtime and naps only we still offered one feed in the night if necessary. It took us till the girls were 7mths old for them BOTH to sleep through consistantly, it was always one or other! Good luck i hope they get it sooner rather than later.

I do think it's normal for them to have some setbacks here & there. We didn't do CIO until 6 months here either, my two were still eating in the night at 4 months.

Yes, mine did take turns for the first 2 nights of CIO. DD definitely cried longer and louder, though. They were sleeping well by the 3rd night, but we didn't do CIO for nightwaking until 7.5 months. (We just did this one week ago). I hope they start sleeping better for you!

We have done cry it out with both babies recently, and only our DD has figured it out. She now goes to sleep peacefully in her crib, but wakes in the night for feeds. I will either bring her into bed with me and feed her or feed her in their room, but once shes done, she gets burped and put back into the crib. she never cries in the night after a feed. The only time she protests is during the day at nap times. Our DS is another story. He refuses to cry it out, and because they are only 4 months, we have decided to wait a while before trying him again. Some babies just arent ready, especially at 4 months. DD figured it out quickly, so we continue it with her. Youll find something that works for you :)
