Well, they were supposed to be for a Christmas card, although they didn't end up turning out very "Christmasy." :) Anyway, here a few pictures I took of the girls about three weeks ago.

    Selah: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j206/ran...laughcropbw.jpg
    Noelle: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j206/ran...ama/smilebw.jpg
    Selah: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j206/ran...ucketbwcrop.jpg
    Noelle: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j206/ran...ankiecropbw.jpg
Karis: I wished her eyes were open, but it kind of looks sweet anyway... http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j206/ran.../closedeyes.jpg
    twins together: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j206/ran...winsbwframe.jpg

They're growing up WAY too fast. Selah has been crawling since 6 months (started out with army crawl and now goes WAY fast). Noelle is just now getting up on all fours more and starting to push forward just a bit. Is it normal for ID twins to be THIS far apart in development. I'm guessing it has so much to do with personality/ambition, right?

You are a very talented photographer. I also love the picture of Karis. I think it looks beautiful with her eyes closed, it adds something to the photo.

The pictures are priceless. I think that the ones with the hats are very "Christmassy". I am sure the developmental differences are completely personality/temperment related. I know my Lily wiggles and rolls and sits herself up and army crawls all over town; however, Jack will stay seated if you put him that way but has no idea how to get himself there or how to really move towards something he wants. He just sits there and whines for you to get something for him. He can roll just fine but has not figured out that it can actually be a means for transporting himself so when he rolls onto his belly he just lays there and whines, wanting to somehow move forward or backward but not knowing how. He could easily just flip over onto his back but He is thinking move and has no idea where to start. It is really funny how different they can be.

Ditto pp that said you are an incredible photographer.

these are amazing. you really have a gift.

Question: what do you use for a black background - some kind of scrim that's hung? and what are you shooting with?
the one of karis w/her eyes closed is incredibly sweet - and those lashes!

yes, pls come take some of my little dolls! (Seriously, if you are not in business, this is something you could do: LOTS of moms (and dads) would want these pics and you would more than cover the cost of childcare during your photo sessions. I coach people in terms of their business goals, among other things, so if you're interested, feel free to pm me, i'd be happy to just talk - for free of course!)

Melissa, oh my goodness -- those came out SO nicely!! You are so talented, as everyone else has said. Of course, it helps that your girls are all gorgeous -- it would be hard to take a bad shot of them! Thanks for sharing them -- they are so, so cute!

ETA -- my DS is rolling across the room, while my DD doesn't move at all. But, she jumps like crazy in the jumperoo, while he just sits there, unsure what to do. I know yours are identical, but still, I think it's really a personality thing....

And, I would love to know *how* you take such great shots, too! I have a very good camera, but absolutely no knowledge of how to use it. Any good websites or books you consult for tips?

Yeah, it sounds like you need to have a whole separate thread called, Pictures 101: How to take good pics of your kids! It sounds like we all need it! and while we're at it....what are you using for lighting?

agree with everyone else, your pictures are always amazing. I like the one of the girls together where one is laughing and they are sort of looking other directions.

as for the differences, remember the girls are individuals and with many milestones for babies there is a broad range of time when it will happen. To me Noelle is n early crawler...but that is beside the point. I have b/g twins so some differences are related to that - but regardless it's important not to compare too much. I think down the road it can cause stress for the kids.

Keep the pictures coming, they are wonderful.

Goodness, I didn't think they were THAT good, but thank you for all your nice comments. :) I'll try to answer some of your questions...

No, I'm not a pro, although I did do a photo shoot for a friend of mine. I just like photography and want to get better at it. Making a business out of it is just not something I can do right now. I would need a studio room anyway. Right now I just set things up in the kitchen or bedroom and I use natural window light. I HATE flash!

I have a Canon Rebel XT, although I'm envious of the Canon 20D or 5D. My black background is just a heavy piece of black material...I've heard fleece is best, but that's not what I have. A great website is ilovephotography.com. I have a Digital Field Guide book which helps, but mostly you've just gotta learn by practicing. Learn one new thing at a time (focus/white balance/etc.). It can be very overwhelming if you're trying to learn everything at once. There's so much that I would still love to learn but just don't have the time right now. I'm not too good with color unless it's outside, but that has a lot to do with not having any kind of studio lighting. Another necessity is some type of photo editing program. I have Jasc Paint Shop Pro Studio, but probably the best would be Adobe Photo Shop, which I'd love to get. Photo Shop Elements is all you really need, because the full version is for VERY professional people. It's good to practice using other modes besides automatic. I think all the pictures I posted were shot in AV mode with a 50 mm 1.8 lens and were all manually focused.
Hope that helps a little bit.

Those are some CUTE babies. Melissa the girls are as gorgeous as ever. Jack has been up moving around for weeks now and James is just starting to lift himself up on all fours, he is definitely the more laid back one. I wouldn't worry I think it has everything to do with personality. Great pictures btw.

Nicole and Danielle are ID and were always a month to a month and a half apart. Danielle always did everything first and then Nicole. Danielle sat up at 7 months and Nicole at 8 months. Danielle crawled at 11 months and Nicole not until 12 1/2 months. Danielle walked at 17 1/2 months and Nicole at 19 months. Danielle just wanted to go more than Nicole did. Nicole was fine just hanging out. She didn't want to try things first. But Nicole's hair grew faster than Danielle and Nicole was always a little bit bigger in height and weight than Danielle... by about a 1/4-1/2 inch and several oz. Now at 3 1/2 years old they are both caught up in everything and they switch off who does things first. It definitely had lots to do with personality. Nicole was very attached to me and was afraid to venture away from me and had such bad separation anxiety with me. Danielle was fine to go to whoever and would wander off from me and wouldn't care if I was next to her or not. So I think that had something to do with it. Once Nicole grew out of that and got more bold she started to do things first. I'm sure they will even out in the long run and you won't even remember when one was behind the other.
