My Dh had a blonde moment today and bought children's Morton instead of infant's Morton. I can't take it back because the closest Walmart is 30 minutes away. Is there really a difference or is just the amount you give them? The bottle says 2-3 yrs weighing 24-35 lbs take 1 tsp, my girls just got weighed and one weighs 22 lbs and the other weighs 23 lbs. If I give them 3/4 teaspoon would that be alright? TIA

I have no idea what the difference is - but I did the same thing as your DH. I called the pedi's office and the night nurse called me back with the correct dosage. I do know that it was A LOT different than the amount of Infant Mortin they get.

It has different concentrations of medicine so a teaspoon of infants Motrin will be stronger than a teaspoon of children's Motrin. I would call the pedi to be 100% sure but I think 3/4 teaspoon would be fine.

I called the dr and they said they couldn't give me a dosage because they weren't there in weight. This is so frustrating!

All you have to worry about is how much medicine is in each dose. For instance if the infant dropper bottle say to give them 2 dropper fulls and two dropper fulls equals lets just say 10 milligrams. Then look at the childrens motrin and give the same milligrams. The only reason for infant medication is that infants cant swallow large doses of medicine so they concentrate it. I looked at my old pediatricians website which is www.parkerpediatrics.com and the dose for their weight is 1.875 ml which is 1 1/2 droppers for infants and for suspension that has 100mg per 5ml the dose is 3/4 of a teaspoonful so your dosage is CORRECT :)
