Children know how many babies your having?

Hi everyone! My husband and I are expecting twins, but today our 8 month old daughter told us there are really three babies inside my stomach. First we ask our two year old, and she kept saying three. Later we ask our 8 month old, she kept holding up three fingers, and trying to say three. Then she crawled over to my husband and tap him three times. My husband ask her again, but he needed a clear answer. Our 8 month old then, crawled on him and point to the number 3 on his shirt. My husband and I never even noticed he had 2 different numbers in small print on his shirt. She pointed directly at the number 3 more than once, and kept smiling because she knew we understood her. Has anyone ever experience this with older kids, or babies? Or know of any sites that confirms babies do know how many children your going to have? I'm just curious. I have never seen a baby answer an adult question so clear using different gestures. Thanks!

My boys are way older than your kids - 12,10&8 - they
call the babies baby A and baby B but my 8 year old will ask where baby c is so I don't know that he actually realizes that there
are 2 babies or not!! heck to be honest with you I don't think it
will hit ME that there are REALLY 2 little people in there until they are born and I have the stretch marks to prove it!!

Back in 2004 when we were just pg with my third son - and we told our kids there was going to be another baby - my oldest who was 4 1/2 at the time said there were two babies in my belly

We were freaked out and I started to show right away - but there was only one

Now -I keep wondering if she really knew that something else was on the horizon for here we are 2 years later and are pg with TWINS!

 

When I was pregnant with my son I went shopping the day after Thanksgiving with my cousin. I had just found out I was pregnant about 3 weeks before this. We were standing in line and this little girl in front of us, maybe 2 years old, looked at me for a little while and then she pointed at me and said "BABY". I looked around and there were no babies around. I don't know if she knew or what, but I will always remember that.

 

Before I even knew I was pregnant (and this was not a planned pregnancy), my then 5 y/o daughter told me I was pregnant with two babies...and she was insistant to the point she almost cried when I wouldn't take her seriously.

A week later, I found out I was pregnant. Two weeks after that, I found out it was twins.

And she has recently "predicted" that one of my best friends was pregnant and sure enough, when I told my friend about it, she laughed and told me that she was indeed 2.5 months pregnant, but they weren't ready to tell anyone just yet.

So, I do believe that sometimes, some children can tell these things.

 

I took my youngest daughter with me to the doctor when I had the first U/S - I thought it was only to confirm my pregnancy. She was there when I freaked out, screaming - "Ronja, we´re not having only one baby, we´re having two!

Ronja, very calm said (with her being two and a half year!): "Well, that´s only fair, mummy, then there´s one baby for me and one for Eva, we won´t have to share."

Now it´s the most natural thing on earth for her she´s having two brothers, and sometimes when she sees women with a baby, she asks them "Where did you put the other one?" or "Look, that poor mummy has only one baby, but you, you mummy are having two, aren´t you?"

But your 8 months old daughter seems to be a very clever girl indeed, as she can already deal with numbers.

 

My son who was 4 kept saying there were 3 too, eventually he realized that there was only 2 and then called them baby a and b and will tell anyone and everyone (anywhere) that his mommy has 2 babies in her tummy.

 

well, this isn't really about #'s but b-4 I even knew I was pregnant (the day b-4 I found out, and I tested early and espected it to be negative) my son was saying at breakfast that when we have a boy baby then he will have someone to play legos etc... with. I didn't want him to be dissapointed if we didn't have any more or ended up with another girl, so I just kinda didn't say much at the time. but he was right! he's getting brothers! so I think kids sometimes know more than we think they do. (which is sometimes more than we know!)

Have you had an US yet?

 

My 3 year old predicted that we were having twins too!! She kept telling us that she was having two babies (and she also told me I was having kitties but that is beside the point) About 2 weeks later we did find out that we were having twins. She has told us we are having a brother and a sister also... even though the U/s keeps saying 2 girls... she is very adament that there is one of each. I'll keep you posted! This is very interesting.

 

When I was first pregnant with my twins (didn't know that it was twins at the time)......my then 3 year old said that I was having 2 babies....LOL....we just blew it off (multiples do not run in the family). A few weeks later, when we had an ultrasound, and saw that we were having twins, we came home and told the other 5 kids that we were having twins.....our 3 year old looked at us as though we were crazy and said that he knew it was twins and he told us that there were 2 babies in there, he said it very matter-of-factly....WE THINK THAT HE KNEW SOMETHING!!!!!!!
