At what age did you get rid of safety gates? My kids are 3, 2, and 2. We're thinking of taking ours down for easier access around the house and less whining in general with the kids.

What is the setup of your house like? Are there steps that they can tumble down? Do you mind them getting into the kitchen? By electronics? Your bedroom? It really depends on how ready you are. lol.

At that age we only had two gates in the house. One blocked off the kitchen and the other was by their bedroom door. When they were moved into toddler beds I wanted to still contain them somehow just to make sure that they weren't wandering the house alone at night.

We only have them on the steps and rarely use them now. Just when we're upstairs and I want to keep them from escaping, not really for safety. We're leaving them up for Elizabeth since she'll be moving around before we know it!

Thanks for the responses! We don't have stairs and I can't use a safety gate around my kitchen, it is open to my nook and family room. We took down the one in the hall and formal living & dining area. They appear to be happier, they just follow me around everywhere I go.
