Chicken pox?

Let me start this by saying that I had chicken pox 4 times and was finally declared "immune" at age 23. So you would think I knew what to look for. I got back from a walk today and noticed 5 red spots (not raised bumps) on Jake's face. I thought maybe they were bug bites, but they are not swollen or raised. Then I changed him out of his pj's and he has one on his chest. Ryan has two on his arm. Any suggestions?? I'll be calling the doc tomorrow, but thought you ladies could help me from losing my mind until then. :) TIA!

That's great you are planning to call the doc. Did you switch laundry soap lately? Has he been around a lot of other babies, like in daycare recently? He may have picked up something there. On the other hand, it could be a heat rash - if it's really hot where you are. It may not necessarily be chicken pox. I hope this is resolved quickly for the little guy and mama's piece of mind :hug99: .

Yeah it is hot here. They haven't been around other kids at all for the past month. We do go out a lot though, so it could have been on a shopping cart or something. No new laundry changes or anything. It's not really a rash, looks more like random bug bites. The spots are about the size of an eraser head. Thanks!

I would maybe try a little cortisone cream on them, if it is heat rash it will help, if not you have ruled it out and you can call the pedi.

My other thought is have you tried a new food, maybe it's an allergic reaction??

I would probably think it was the heat if it were me. Mine both get a reaction from the heat and even a little bit of sun and they both look different. DD gets rashy bumps and DS gets similar spots to what you are describing.

    I hope they're ok!

I think u will probably know by later today, if it is chicken pox they will start to blister by then especially if its warm, also if u try a warm bath and it is chickenpox it will bring them out even more. Good luck to you

MY Jake has this too right now!
I told his dad if it doesn't get better by tomorrow, I am taking him to the Pedi.

Let me know what you find out...he has about 6 spots on his back too!!!

Phew! The boys woke up and all the spots on Jake are gone! Ryan still has the two on his arm, but I feel much better. Thanks for helping me keep my cool!
