My twins have started chewing on their hands. Do you think it has something to do with teething? they just turned 3 months last week. DS has been sleeping less and eating more (but not more each sitting - he throws up - just more sittings!!)

I thought maybe they were hungry so I try to give them more bottle but they dont want that or their dummy - they want to chew on their hands.
I can see some of their teeth through their gums - not the top of the gums where they grow out but through the front - is that normal? I have never seen the inside of a baby's mouth before. lol.

I also think DD has relfux. Should I thicken every bottle? Even if it's only the afternoon/night feeds that give her trouble.

They have been pretty unsettled recently (and I thought this was supposed to be getting easier.lol)
    Anyone else had this?

The cheweing hands is normal. They now have more control of their hands so they are "playing" with them. They could be teething but it could be a while befor they come in. You should be able to see the teeth on the front as they are there but not above the gums at the top. You probably won't see them out for several months anywhere form 4 to 12 months is 'normal"

Totally normal. My guess would be partly teething and partly just discovering what those little things are. But be prepared for the comments on how your babies are starving or didn't get enough because their hands are in their mouth. Ugh.

Like pps, sounds totally normal. Mine started do that around the 3 1/2 month mark, then the excess drooling around 4 months, and one got his first tooth at 6 months and the other at 6.5 months. Teething, especially those first ones, can some times last a while.

Like the pp said, totally normal, it doesn't really have anything to do with teething it's just a developmental stage. Soon they will be chewing on each other's hands, that's my son's favorite activity!!

Both of my girls are doing this now too and they are really close in age to yours (born Nov 13).

My boys just started gnawing on their hands. I think it's because they've just discovered them. It's very cute, though now they're big drooly messes all the time... I thought maybe they were teething because of all the extra drool, but I don't feel anything yet... I know it's kind of early for teeth, but not unheard of... could yours be having a growth spurt (with regards to the fussiness/being unsettled/eating more?) Good luck- it will get easier (it has to, right??) :)

they will gnaw their hand b/c they can and b/c their salvary glands are now working full force so they will drool alot too.

Mine are like new puppies. They will chew on anything, their own hands, brother's hand if it's handy, blankets, bibs... you name it. William must have rubbed his nose yesterday with his wet hand because when we looked over at him his nose was covered in drool!
They will jam that hand in until they gag and they have yet to figure out the connection so we have to go over and remove the hand to stop the gagging noise!
