Ok, so did you do 4 day wait rule for every type of cheese?
My girls have been eating cottage cheese for about 2wks. If I was going to give them some shredded cheddar cheese, is that considered a new food? Or is cheese cheese?

    Thanks!!!

I think you'd be fine to go ahead and give it to her. I say cheese is cheese, of course if she gets gassy/constipated then maybe hold off for a couple more weeks, but she should be fine if she's already had cottage cheese. :)

    I always waited... I don't know why :)

I never heard of the 4 day wait rule, so obviously I never followed it. Oh well. All my kids are fine and love cheese.

We do not wait between types of cheese.

BTW cheese is a fave in this house.

Once we did all the 'basic' baby foods and had alot of variety, we ditched the 4 day rule, BUT my kids have never reacted to anything. I would say go for it, cheese is a big hit in this house as well!

My girls have never had a reaction to anything either (and we have tried quite a bit!) and there are no history of allergies. I'll admit sometimes I'll only do 3 days. :D

Oh wait there was one reaction, Maia didnt like the beans and was literally SCREAMING (mad not sad) her head off and sticking her fingers in her mouth to push them out! It was one of the funniest things I have witnessed in a while. And I'm a jerk, once she calmed down (thanks to my sister, I was no help!) I snuck another bite in to "be sure".

I tried some cheese, they seemed to like it. Not much made it in their mouths though, most of it was in their laps.

You are too funny! I can see you and your sister doing that! It's something DH and I would do! I stopped following the 3 day rule awhile ago. I can't keep track. And there are no allergies-with the exception of cashews with my nephew-in my family. The boys have had no reactions thus far-and I hope to keep it that way!

The boys had grilled cheese for dinner tonight-they seemed to enjoy it! And they LOVE string cheese(I just cut it in 4's). LOVE it. Now if they could just get it ALL in their mouths!

BTW-thanks for asking all these food questions! Helps me out a lot! :)

Not to threadjack, but did you cut the grilled cheese into dices or just into quarters and let them take bites, that's on my list of foods to offer soon!!

I was the same as PP, once the majority of "baby" foods were done, we ditched the 4 day timeframe.

I used a pizza cutter to cut it into small bite-sized pieces.

I cut the crust off(figured it would be harder to "chew") and then cut it into strips, and then small pieces. I figured-give it a try! They don't like it, take to it-so be it! Anthony has 2 bottom teeth and Nicholas has none. They both did really well!

I will have to remember the pizza cutter though! I want to try quesadillas too.

What kind of bread do you use for the grilled cheese? Do you put butter on it?

I make my grilled cheese like I'd make my own, only as little butter as necessary to cook it. I also cut the crusts off (and eat them myself!) & use a pizza cutter to cut bite sized pieces. I use the pizza cutter for lots of stuff....pancakes, waffles, etc. It's much easier than cutting with a knife!

I also mentioned this in the other thread, but once we were past all the Stage 2s out there, I stopped the 4 day rule. It was just too crazy with all the stuff we were letting them 'taste' off our plates. I'd have never been able to keep track!

I used wheat bread...and buttered-lightly-both sides. I flatten it down as I am cooking it-plus that's the way I like it!

DH and I are doing the South Beach Diet and it took every ounce of my being not to have a bite of that grilled cheese!
