So my girls have been eating yogurt, they LOVE it! I kind of figured they would since I love all things dairy! ;) They have had no problems with the milk.

I have been reading on a lot of the other threads that everyone gives cheese. When did you start giving cheese? What kind of cheese did you start with? How did you do it, self feed?

My girls just started with puffs last week and the mesh feeder 2 nights ago. They did pretty good with the mesh feeder but not so good with the puffs. I am just starting to have them self feed.
I do give them sippies a few times a week, one gets it, one wants nothing to do with it.

    Thank you!!!

For my older DD she got yogurt at 9 months and then once we knew she could tolerate the dairy, we gave her cheese crumbles to pick up and self-feed.

With the boys totally different since we had a milk allergy we did not do dairy until after they were 12 months and they wont eat cheese  Bummer.

We didn't do cheese until 10 months, but we didn't start yogurt until 9 months. I started with cheddar and cut it into tiny bits for them to pick up and eat. Now 5 months later the cheese addition continues. They'll eat anything as long as there is cheese involved.

So if you've started yogurt and it is tolerated it is ok to start cheese? I didn't ask my ped specifically about cheese. Of course I've seen some here that are giving meat before 8 months and my Ped insisted we wait.

We started with yogurt and cheese at 9 months. I took a slice of American, folded it in half and broke off small bite sized pieces for them.

My ped. said we could start cheese at our 6 mo appt, so we've been doing it ever since. We give them small bits of shredded cheddar cheese, and they LOVE it!

When you are ready to give it to them - grate it.

It's hard to remember, but I think for DD we started all dairy products close to 1 year-old (maybe the last couple of month before one?), with whole milk being introduced last, after she turned one. I wish I had written all this down, I wouldn't ask myself the same questions this time for the twins :FIFblush: For cheese, we started with cottage cheese.

[SIZE=10pt]We started with shredded cheddar cheese. They love it. Now they'll eat anything with cheese involved....grilled cheese, mac-n-cheese, cubed cheese, shredded cheese :D

I'm like one of the other posters....I wish I'd have written down when I started certain things. I want to say cheese was around their 9 mo appt. We didn't really do any self feeding 'table food' other than puffs, cheerios, wagon wheels, & mesh feeders until around 9 mos.

We started with those cheese sticks that come individually packaged & I'd just break them up. They didn't like string cheese, but otherwise liked the sticks. Then we did broken up cheese slices & now cheese crumbles (I believe they're made by Kraft). Sometimes the pieces are too big but they snatch them before I can snag them & suck on them til they're softer ;)! I knew my 2 would LOVE cheese since I do & they'll eat around everything else on their tray to get to their cheese.......

(PS I didn't start cottage cheese until 10 mos & only give it 1-2x/week. I still only give yogurt 1-2x/wk too)

I think I started with cheese around 8 or 9 months old. Our Pedi wasn't strict b/c we have no food allergies in the families. I get the Mozz String cheese or Cheddar cheese snacks and cut the whole log in half longways then cut it up into bits for them to pick up and eat. Hannah eats one at a time ... but Meredith ... if you put 8 bits on the tray ... you turn around for 2 seconds and 8 bits will be in her mouth and her cheeks are puffed out like a chipmunck! They LOVE cheese!

This sounds just like my girls. They are addicted to cheese. I give mine cheddar cut into small pieces. They will eat any kind of cheese I have offered.
