the kids have been on solids for almost 2 months now. we've tried most fruits and lots of veggies by now,a nd i'd like to start moving into other foods. so today i gave them each a couple cheerios. Lincoln made the FUNNIEST face and just held it on his tongue like it was poison! it was hilarious! he couldhn't seem to figure out what to do with it! when he finally got it down, i tried helping him get another one and he CLAMMED UP! no entry!!!! if only i knew it would be so funny, i would have had the video camera out!
cecilia actually seemed to gum it a bit, which is funny because she's the tongue thruster that had a tougher time initially with the transition to solids!
anyway, how do you add the other foods? is it just a texture thing for him? keep trying? any other good non-babyfood items to add? what kind of yogurt did you try and when?

Have you tried puffs yet?? Someone once here said that Puffs were like 'baby crack'! Most babies love them. They might be better than cherrios at first because they dissolve easier.

We did baby yogurt at about 8 months.

I heard that if they gag, it is not necessarily because they dont like it is but probably because of the texture.

I tried cheese and avacado as one of the first nonbaby foods. I also pureed boiled chicken breasts with frozen peas and carrrots. I made it a tad thicker than stage 2.

I agree with the puffs, they are much easier to dissolve than the cheerios!

Any type of diced, reallllly soft cooked veggie or fruit that they have already eaten pureed would be fine.

I did the same as you but then started with the puffs, which were accepted much better. So once they got the hang of those, I went onto Cheerios and other things that were tougher.

PUFFS! Puffs definitely dissolve better and they taste better too! My guys are total addicts!

I second and third the puffs. We actually started with those way before we introduced cheerios. They taste better and practically melt in the mouth. They don't have to gum them as much since the saliva does most of the work for them. IMO it's a better starter food than cheerios which are a bit harder to moosh up in the mouth.

my kids must be the only ones on the planet that HATE puffs with a passion...they spit them out! We started with Cheerios and they didn't have any problems with them...

Puffs before Cheerios, definitely. Also, there is so darn much sugar in Cheerios, if you can believe it. I like YoBaby Yogurt, but it also has a fair amount of sugar in it.

I started my first on Cheerios since puffs were pretty new at the time. I would break the Cheerios in 2 or 3 pieces, then only in 2 and later a whole one. It took about 1 month, and at 7 months she was eating Cheerios and at 8 month a slice of bread ... and I never gave her baby food again unless we were travelling. The twins have figured it out yet, they also make funny faces ... maybe try puffs first with them. My dd used to love them!
