I was just wondering what age you started giving Cheerios to your babies? Kate is getting her first tooth so my sister mentioned Cheerios and I wasn't sure what age I should start? I definitely don't want them choking, but she mentioned breaking them up. Thanks!

I started with Gerber Puffs around 6-7 Months. They dissolve a lot quicker than the cheerios. Once they got efficient with eating those we moved to the Cheerios.

I started mine on puffs at little before their 8 month and they really like them . I did not try cheerios yet, but I believe it is pretty much the same.

i started my girls on cheerios around 8.5 months & they loved them. they didn't have any teeth at the time. as for choking, they did tend to gag when they forgot to chew or would put too much in their mouth - it always sounded really scary but they were always fine (sometimes though they'd throw up to bring the piece up that was bugging them). so far (knock on wood) we haven't had any bone fide choking situations. i think as long as you're sitting with them & watching them eat they'll (and you'll) do fine.

We started with Puffs around 6.5-7 months. They are in a star shape, and I broke off the points at first. They dissolve very quickly.

We also did puffs at 6.5 months. They dissolve much more quickly than cheerios, like pp said. They loooove puffs!

I agree with starting with the puffs. They melt in the mouth. I used these for my daughter before we started cheerios.

We did Cheerios and Puffs around 6.5 months. They LOVE them! We also started Baby Mum Mum's at that time.

I started mines on Cherios about two weeks ago. They are fine. They do gag from time to time especially if they put too much in their mouth. Last nights my DD had to bring one back up.

We started puffs with the babies at 6 mos and they LOVE them! We did try cheerios but I was so afraid they'd choke so I stopped giving it to them as a snack and what I do now is serve it as breakfast. We crunch it up a little so it's not so chunky and add warm formula - they love their cheerios cereal for breakfast! It's awesome. Maybe when they have more teeth, i'll start giving it to them to snack on. But the puffs work for now. Strangely, I didn't have the same concerns when my now 7 year old was 6 mos - that's when I started him on cheerios and he never choked.
