The boys have been crying for the past few weeks everytime I put them on the changing table!!! I not really sure why?? Is this happening to anyone else?? Is there anything I can do to calm them down while i change them?

Mine went thru this around that age. I let them play with things that weren't toys (baby brush, comb, closed small container of lotion, etc) while holding them down and changing them quickly.

I think they just don't want to sit still at this age. Once they started standing, I changed the girls standing up in the living room. It was faster and they didn't really have time to notice. With Dax, I usually change him in the bedroom so I use the toys-that-aren't-toys idea to try to keep him a little bit happier.

i also hand them hairbrush, tubes of lotion, nose drops, comb, anything they can't get open, and it gets their attention for a bit and i hustle while changing them

i tried changing them elsewhere like the couch or the floor, and it was MUCH worse with them squirming and trying to escape--stick to your routine cuz that's where they'll sit stillest (not a word i know :D)

certainly is motivation for potty training, though LOL

Exactly! I used distractors too, like the remote!

I just posted this same question about a month or so ago! It has gotten somewhat better, but I would say Parker probably screams 75% of the time, but that is better than before.

Two things that work well - an old remote control - I keep it in the drawer hidden away until he starts screaming and it "magically" appears!

He also just realized that a cool wet wipe on his private/bottom area feels funny, so as soon as I start wiping him, he starts cracking up!!

    Whatever works.... :)

yep mine are doing this too... GRR! I had them stuff to make them stay a little bit still and i go as quick as possible. Frustrating to try and change a little one when they are almsot on their stomachs. LOL...

At the moment mine love being changed, because they know they get changed right before they eat. they're catching on to the routine.

I agree with everyone else, they just seem restless. Good idea on giving them something to play with.

We gave up on the changing table at that age and now we just change them on the floor. That novelty of being changed on the floor kept them contained for about three weeks and now I resort to cell phones, lotion bottles, keys, etc.

I found that the floor was easier for me because I wasn't worried someone would fall off the table. Now if they roll it's only onto the carpet and off the changing pad.

Just got a good tip from a baby newsletter I get through e-mail about how to manage a wiggly baby on the changing table, is to put a musical mobile above them so they have something to look at.

The boys' Auntie sent a couple of used cell phones that did the trick for about a week, but mostly we rotate through half a dozen things they don't get to see any other time. The latest is a rubber frog with a bright red tongue that rolls out when you squeeze it...fits very nicely in the drawer on the changing table, so it disappears completely when they come off the table.
