change of clothes in the diaper bag

At what age did you stop packing a change of clothes in the diaper bag just for a quick outing or a doctor's appointment? Ds was always a spitter upper, so many times I had to pack 2-3 changes just for him. But lately, since there is no more formula spit ups, I have not packed any extra clothes or maybe just an extra no gender shirt or something. I was just wondering what others have done.

I quit when they were something like 4 months old  I wasn't using the outfits and finally decided I'd figure it out if I needed to. Obviously, if I'm taking them somewhere like a muddy pumpkin patch, I'd bring them something just in case and I brought extra clothes when they had a stomach bug and we dragged them to Thanksgiving dinner anyway but it's only for special circumstances that I bother.

Dave was a happy spitter and he has a really weak gag reflex. I carried a change of clothes for him until he was 2. (And he needed it!) He also gets carsick so if we make a long car trip I pack something just in case. I have never carried a spare set of clothes for her ever. She just didn't need it. I packed spare clothes for Sean and James until they were 2-ish months old.

I have two diaper bags. One stays in the car and is fully stocked with snacks, extra cups, bottled water, changes of clothes, etc. The other bag that I take with me into stores just has wipes, two diapers, and a few assorted items (snacks, hand sanitizer, etc.). I have never carried a change of clothes on me just to go into the mall, Target, etc..

I really don't know. Long trips (like over 3 hrs), yes I bring a change of clothes because Ainsley has gotten sick in the car a few times. Running errands, no. I don't even really have a diaper bag anymore, just a large purse that I keep a couple diapers and wipes stashed in it.

Both of my girls were refluxers, so I always had to have a change on hand. Jessica now gets carsick, so we just keep a change in the car but do not carry it with into stores etc.

I'm not a diaper bag girl, either. Haven't been since they were about 5m.

I do keep one stocked in the car, like Kate. However, I've been known to forget to update it when we outgrow a size of clothing/diapers.

My boys are so predicatble with their bowel movements (TMI, sorry), that I can easily plan accordingly. I can't tell you the last time I got caught in public while needing to change a poopy diaper. I think it was at the farm we use to go to when the boys were about 13m.

Everything thing I need (small pkg. of wipes, and some snacks) fits in my stroller's parent compartment.

I too keep a stocked bag in the car for all 3 boys. I never have carried a bag. If we go to the mall and I know they didn't poop in the AM before we went I will put a diaper, wipes, and a mat in the strooler pocket otherwise everything stays in the car. My DH was thankful for that the other day when he took my oldest to work and didn't make it to the bathroom 3 flights down. He is just lucky I remembered to restock it jast weekend.

I really never even take in a diaper bag. If we are going to be somewhere for a while (like the mall) I will throw a couple diapers, wipes, sippy of water, and a snack in the basket and go. I never carry an extra outfit unless they are going somewhere I absolutely know they could get messy at (like to eat ice cream).

The diaper bag basically stays in my car and I throw diapers in it every once in a while.

I keep some small plastic boxes (dollar store) in the car w/diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes FOR EVERYONE--even my 5 year old. Well, just a shirt for DH and myself. I'll spare you the details but it's come in handy a few times.

My girls stopped spitting up around a year, but then a whole nother time of mess started. And continues. When we go out without a change of clothes, we often regret it! If we are going in the car, I try to always put a change of clothes in the car, and leave it there. We can run out to get it if we need to. My girls are 3 years 3 months--so you've got a ways to go!

I always keep a change of clothes either with me or in the car. A few weeks ago, DS had some virus that showed up when he got sick in his car seat (10 min from home). I was thankful to have a change of clothes. It would have been awful for him to have to stay in his clothes after that!! I'd rather be prepared, then to deal with the frustration of not being prepared.

I'm in the "always prepared" camp. On my first mall outing with the girls @ 4 weeks, I was in the bathroom changing diapers with another woman who didn't carry a diaper bag for her 2-year-old. He had a major blowout, and she had to buy new clothes for him and herself -- the poor woman was covered in poo! That experience stuck with me. I always have stuff on my person. Sometimes the car is dang far away!! I don't anticipate ditching the diaper bag until they've been potty trained for a good, long time. You never know!

I don't carry a change of clothes for mine anymore unless we are going on a long outing. I think I stopped around 12 months when they stopped spitting up.

We still keep an extra shirt in the bag, and I keep one in my car -- just in case. (It was more necessary in the summer, when they were likely to get very wet/muddy at the playground.) But I don't keep a full set of clothes for each child.

I never stopped! You just never know when you need to change them. I've had several diaper leaks, juice spills all over their shirts, and now that they are potty trained, a couple of poop/pee accidents. In the summer, they get sweaty and dirty playing at the park or just napping in their car seats. It's just good to have a change of clothes around for my peace of mind.

I got kind of lax about changes of clothes for awhile, but now that we are actively potty training, I'm usually carrying changes of pants and underpants.

I would say by about six months, I put an extra, smaller, diaper bag in the car with a change of clothes, two extra diapers and a few extra wipes. Just as a backup. I pull it out to change clothes and diapers once they go up a size.

Gave our extra set of clothes up a while ago, probably about 6 months. Just was too much work to carry it all around. :D
