So I had my 12 week appt today, and since I have been bleeding so much, and on Monday passed a really big clot, they gave me an ultrasound, and said the babies are sitting really low on my cervix. That when I go to the peri, they may choose to stitch my cervix closed. How much is that going to hurt? Sure I've had stitches for surgeries, but I have always been asleep when those were done. So is it going to be painful for them to do that? A regular pap test hurts me a lot, I don't know what to think of them giving me a stitch.

I had my cerclage at 19 weeks… I was at the hospital at 8am, got my i.v., got my spinal and was home by 2:30 that day… I was only uncomfortable the rest of the day… it felt like I had a UTI… but when I woke up the next day I wouldn’t have known I had anything done (except for slight discolored discharge the Dr said I would have). HTH

If you have any questions about Cerclages don’t hesitate to PM me… I had mine because they were both low / head down and my Cervix shortened to 2.2 w/ funneling… 4 days after my Cercalge the funneling had stopped and my cervix was 4.4

Do you have to have a spinal? Could you just be knocked out? I'm terrified of needles going near my back. (Very bad experience) and I have a bad back as it is, I don't want to risk other problems. :(

I had a cerclage as well at 24w, the latest they will do one, mine was an emergency cerclage. I had a spinal, they didn't give me an option on that. I had cramping throughout that day and some discharge which they said was normal.

Oh me too… I am not kidding when I say one of the reasons I wasn’t going to have more children was the bad experience I had from my spinal… I even joked when we found out I was pregnant with twins… well I lucked out… 2 babies and one spinal…

But I do NOW have to admit, God knew what he was doing when he gave me PTL starting at 17 weeks that resulted in this Cerclage… going slower and having nurses hold my hand (yes I cried the whole time out of fear not pain) made me not scared of the spinal any more… I’m totally serious when I say I was having panic attacks over the thought of my spinal, and now I am soooo at peace… I am 100% honest when I say my iv hurt more that day…

They said they couldn’t put me out because it will affect the babies…

I also want to tell you how this Cerclage has made this a WAY better pregnancy then my sons was… I’m not bed ridden (and I was with him) and this might be TMI but I’m not on pelvic rest (I was with my sons pregnancy)… which is good for the marriage moral… I don’t know about you but my husband it way quicker to make dinner and do a dish when loving is involved :spiteful:

Curious, why are they stitching you up??? Is your cervix getting low? I had the blood clot happen to me too-
They thought about stitiching me up but my cervix stayed pretty thick then BAM got low and now in the hospital
on bed rest from cervix funneling. Somtimes I wonder if it was because of that clot? But that happened at 13 weeks
and the funneling with the cervix happened at 23 1/2 week? So I'm confused? I guess we really don't know how
the human body is going to handle twins.

They are not sure yet. The babies are laying right on my cervix which is all she said. I think she thinks because I am haivng so may problems. They haven't even started weening me off the prgesterone shots yet. It was my fertility clinic that said they might but would be up to the peri. The fertility clinic, I went in for my 12 week appt today, was suppost to have a pelvic exam, which I had last week, and I told her I was still beleeding, and about the clot, so she did an ultrasound to make sure the babies were ok, but the u/s tech wasnt in so she did it for me. I'm just terrified because a few years ago, I had a cadual epidural done, for back pain, and wound up with an infection in my spine, and hospilized.

I have an appt Thursday with the peri.
Which I kind of have a problem with as well. See my fertility clinic is sending me there, no problem, but the practice, is like 3 or 4 different drs. I had one of them when I was 18-19 years old, went to him when we started having problems conceiving, and he just kind of shoved it off. Well they had refered me to a different doctor there, which I hear nothing but good stuff about, but I guess I have to eventually see all the doctors in the practice. Thats not very personable, and I really don't want to see him. I am going to call the hospital tomorrow and see if I can find a different doctor. I don't want to be spreading my legs for a bunch more doctos, when I had to do that jsut to get this far you know. Expecially if I know that one doesn't even care. When I told the receptionist I will not see him, she was was like well I guess no one explained to you that you will have to rotate drs. But when I went before when I was younger, for gyn checks, birth control, and fertility problems (which he never tried to find the problem of, just handed me a script of clomid said here take this, and when it didnt work would just up it, never wanted to know what was wrong) I always saw him, the same doctors.
