When I went to see my peri last week for a cervical check (transvag), he showed me where my cervix was "beaking". I asked him if that was the same as "funneling" and he said no, and we moved on to another subject. I'm a bit confused. For those of you who have funneling, what does that mean? My cervix is opening up like a "V". In the ultrasound, you can see the baby's head and amniotic fluid where the cervix is getting wider. It's opened about halfway and then closed. When I was told I have a short cervix (1.7 cm) it's because they are measuring from the middle of my cervix (where the "beaking" stops) to the end of the closed portion.

    Anyway, I'm still confused!!!!

Im not sure what the term "breaking" means as I have never heard that. Funneling is when your cervix is open from the inside out in the shape of a V and the sac is protruding into the opening (like a funnel). Since your cervix moves, and can open and close depending on how you are moving it can cause you to PROM. HTH!

I've never heard of beaking. There is a section on here that explains funneling you can read. When I started to funnel, that is what it looked like on the ultrasound ( the V ) . Maybe some of the more experienced moms on here can help ya out :)

I'll check out past posts...The sac isn't protruding....Maybe beaking is pre-funneling???? I'm gonna do some research...
