Cervix question

I went to see the peri on Friday and they did a vaginal u/s to check my cervix....and they found that it's a little short at 2.8cm. Then today I had an appointment with my ob and she did an internal and thought my cervix felt to be around 2.5cm. I'm not dialated at all, my cervix is still closed. Neither doctor seemed to be to worried right now, they are just going to keep an eye on it. I'm still worried though.....has anyone else had a shortened cervix around 27 weeks and everything worked out ok?? I'm so worried about going on bedrest or having these babies to early. Thanks!!

 

I was put on bedrest when my cervix started measuring that length...but I was just beginning my 24th week and was having tons of contractions (and my cervix was funneling).

At this point in your pregnancy, I do not think that it is totally abnormal to have a cervix of that length. But it might be a good idea to have your things in order in the event that you do have to have some kind of restricted activity/modified bedrest in the near future. I know it will be hard with a little one at home, but try to be mellow and stay well-hydrated. That is really the best that you can do.

 

With my first son, I was put on bedrest when my cervical length was under 3. I was contracting a lot and on Terb also. I just don't know what cervical lengths at different gestations are normal with twins, maybe with the extra pressure, the cervix does shorten sooner? Good Dr. question!

I think it will start to shorten, although 27 weeks is a bit early. I'd definitely take it easy and drink tons of water.
