I'm only 14 weeks with one. Went to the doctor and he said he will need to check my cervix every two weeks because of previous d&c for m/c. I had no problems with my cervix shortening or anything with the twins so I am surprised at this. I would have thought maybe from giving birth 5 months ago but he said from d&c over a year ago. Has anyone else had that? I was so excited that this pregnancy I'd only have to go once a month and now it's every other week. I guess it's still better than weekly. He did a little sonogram in his office and the baby didn't look to me like it was moving but he said he saw heart activity maybe he'll check again with the cervix fun. Then I have a big ultrasound end of Feb. to hopefully find the sex.

I don't really have any advice, but that stinks that you have to go in every other week. UGh! I hope all is well with the pregnancy though and your dr. is just being proactive.

From what I have learned, the trauma of having a d&c is a factor for an incompetant cervix, along with having a baby only 5 months ago. I am finding that since that problem is becoming more "popular" and the causes of it are more known now, doctors are being more cautious, which is a good thing. I had three children with no cervix problems, but lost my twins to an incompetant cervix. As much as it sucks going in every other week for a check, I would give anything for my previous OB to have done that. Hang in there. better safe than sorry.

I had a miscarriage and D&C 5 years ago. when I was pregnant with the twins i had an incompetent cervix and was on bedrest from week 20 to week 38. this time around the dr kept a closer watch of my cervix till week 20 and then assured me that things would be fine this time around. I know it's a hassle for you to go in that often but it is a very valuable piece of information and I'm sure once you reach week 20 he'll start seeing you on a regular schedule.

My OB started at 17 weeks, every other week. I didn't mind because it was peace of mind for me that she was monitoring me SO closely.

Hmmm. I've had 3 D&C's and was checked a few times with the twins but nothing was said this time around at all.... I'm going every 4 weeks.

Hi :) I had cervix checks every 2 weeks starting around that time all the way until I was 30 weeks. I delivered my twins at 27 weeks though, so that is why. I actually enjoyed getting to see the baby so much. I was so used to the frequent u/s with the twins, as I had the cervix checks then as well (I was originally pregnant with triplets).
