So anyone know anything about the optimal cervix length? I had cervix problems with my twin pregnancy and I had a LEEP years prior to the pregnancy. I had my anatomical today and an u/s cervix measurement and measured just shy of 3.5cm, the u/s tech said I am just barely in the range of good. Anyone with any experience? THANKS! The 'just barely' has me worried.

I had the same procedure when I was younger. I've only had one pregnancy with the twins. I started out around 3 cm. My MFM seemed to think 3 was good, but started to get more concerned when it dropped to 2. I had significant problems around 24 weeks and ended up with only a 6 mm cervix. But it lasted with BR for another 12 weeks (no cerclage).
I think 3.5 sounds fine, as long as it stays stable. Have you discussed a cerclage with your OB? My MFM told me if I got pregnant again (not in the plan for us) they would do a preventative cerclage based on my history.
HTH a little. GL and take care, Beth

I would ask your doc about it but I think 3.5 sounds good for a singleton. I just wanted to say I had a leep also and had 3 subsequent pregnancies go FT with no problems at all. Good luck!

    I also had a LEEP.

My Peri was fine w/ a length above 3.0 and I had no restrictions until it dropped to 2.5 normal/1.7 with pressure. Then I was on bedrest for 11 weeks. My girls were born early, but NOT due to cervical issues (Baby B was in distress)!

THANK YOU for all the reassurance!!! I was a little concerned at at 20 weeks the average length is 4 cm, and 34 weeks is 3.4 cm... so it seems as though we are a little short, but you girls have helped me feel better! With the twins I was 70% effaced at 29 weeks and in PTL at 30 under control with bedrest and terb. til 36 weeks when I developed HELLP. So I got nervous! I just want this one to be a normal pregnancy :). Thank you again!
