Had my Peri apt today just to check fluids and cervical length. Both boys are looking good and moving tons. My cervix has always been really long, as in averaging from 4.8 to 5.6+ cm... The last measurement was 2 weeks ago and it was over 5cm, today is was barely 3.5 cm. The peri I saw was a dr. i hadn't seen yet and he said it was good and long, and that it was abnormal to have it measuring as long as it was before, so not to worry..

Anyway.. I'm not worried, but was thinking 2cm difference is a change, plus I had spotting earlier this week (that my OB said was fine and normal)..

Just wondering what your experiences are with cervical length and change...

at 27 weeks my cervix went from 4cm to 2cm & then didn't budge another iota until i went into labour at 34w1d. i would just keep monitoring for the usual PTL signs (increase in frequency or intensity of contractions, contractions that don't go away with rest, drinking water or emptying your bladder, more than 6 contractions in an hour (at least that was my OB's policy), etc) and not worry about it. 3.5cm is still plenty long!

I have been sitting at 4cm for pretty much my entire pregnancy, and I have ultrasounds every 2 weeks and then I had a girl in training do my measurments and she said it was 3.2cm, but when I went back 2 weeks later it was right back to 4cm.

I was told that anything over 2cm is great! I would trust your doctor and heck if you have any issues or concerns, just let them know and i'm sure they will do what needs to be done.

    32weeks 2days pregnant with boy/girl twins!

3.5 is great for 30 weeks. At that point, I think it's pretty normal to start to see changes. Like PP said, just monitor your contractions/symptoms and don't hesitate to call if you have any questions.

The cut off is 2.5 cm...that's when they start to worry. You're well within the healthy/safe range. :)
