my ds is eating about every 2-3 hours STILL...i know not to put it in their bottles but can you give them a few really milky spoonfuls of cereal around 2-3 months?? he is taking 6-7 ounces of milk at a time and still acts like he is hungry!

    anyone else have similar issues???

Im sure the pedi would say no, however we did this for my first son and it did help. We are about to start some cereal here as well and mine are two months old.

For my older ones, we started cereal around 4-5 months because that was what was recommended at the time. L&L were 6 months because recommendations had changed before then. I would check with your ped before adding cereal at a young age and maybe ask the reasoning behind the advice because that might help you decide.

Eating every 2-3 hours is perfectly normal at 2 months. No, personally I would not start cereal.

We started rice cereal and 5.5 months and they were ready for it. Babies that young usually cry a lot, regardless of how much and how often they eat. 6-7 ounces seems like it would be plenty.

Oh yes - I have this problem too! My ds eats 7oz bottles every 3-4 hours and has been that way for over a month now. Consequently, he is turning into quite a chunk! At their two month wellness check, he weighed 13lbs, 1oz. I expressed my concerns but the pedi told me not to worry about it. He was in the 80th percentile for his age at the time. I tried to give him a little cereal a few weeks ago (because we were also having bad spit-up problems and rice cereal is supposed to help) but he just pushed it back out w/ his tongue. I am looking forward to trying it again to see if it will help satisfy his hunger but I will probably wait until he's closer to 4 months.

Mine had a bottle every 1.5 hrs until they were 4.5 months old. So 2-3 hrs at 2 months is Perfectly normal. We started rice cereal around 5.5 months.

All three of the kiddos started cereal at 3 months because of reflux. If we didn't have all those problems, I would have waited until 4-5 months.

we started at 4 months. our ed recomended it. i know its irritating to have to feed them every two hours, but even with the cereal and veggies, mine still need a bottle every two hours. it will get better as they get older, but adding cereal isnt going to magically make them less hungry. you should ask your ped if he/she thinks they are ready. if they arent it can really mess up their tummys with gas and constipation. and let me tell you, if you tthink feeding them every two hours is bad, wait until they are nonstop crying from constant discomfort. that is hell.
